About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Lisa Anthony, I am a qualified and experienced person-centred Counsellor. If you are struggling with aspects of your life, relationships or identity and want to explore this confidentially then counselling could be helpful for you.
I have particular experience working with grief and loss, identity and sexuality and I also work with people who are exploring a spiritual path or struggling with issues related to faith and spirituality. I work in a holistic way with whatever you need to bring and as a person-centred counsellor I will work alongside you with empathy and without judgment. I won’t try to ‘fix’, believing that together we can explore your feelings and thoughts and that, as Carl Rogers said, “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I change.” I am committed to anti-oppressive practice and to my ongoing professional development as a practitioner
Counselling usually happens through talking but for those clients who wish to use or try out other forms of self-expression I also work with person-centred expressive arts. This is based on the same values and principles of empathy, acceptance and a genuine relationship but may use visual arts, creative writing, sound or movement as ways of connecting with and expressing emotions, thoughts and ideas. Check out this link if you would like to know more about this way of working: https://personcenteredexpressivearts.com/about-expressive-arts/
In addition to my counselling training I have completed further training as a spiritual companion with the Spiritual Companions Trust. This is a broad approach, supporting people of all faiths and none to explore their personal relationship with spirituality
I am a qualified counselling supervisor and work with organisations and individual counsellors to reflect on and develop counselling skills and practice.
Practice description
I work online, using Zoom but am based in Cornwall and am happy to explore face to face working for anyone local.
