About me and my therapy practice
I am a BACP accredited counsellor & psychotherapist with more than 25 years of clinical experience. I work with individuals and couples and support parents of children with mental health problems.
Although I primarily work with clients in person, in certain circumstances I am able to offer counselling sessions online.
In 2019 I completed a post qualifying course in couple therapy with Tavistock Relationships. This training provided me with an in-depth understanding of the dynamics within couples and how to work with couples more effectively.
Prior to becoming a counsellor, I was a social worker within mental health. For more than 12 years I worked as a GP counsellor within the NHS.
My specialism is in short-term counselling (please look on my website for further information: www.ingridschultz.co.uk), but I also offer time-limited & open ended counselling contracts.
Seeking counselling is a brave step, especially if you have no previous experience. But it can be a huge relief to be with a professional person in a confidential setting where only you matter.
My consulting room is on the top floor of a quiet office building in the centre of Frome. Frome is easily accessible from Warminster, Westbury, Trowbridge, Radstock, Shepton, Wells and the surrounding villages.
My first session
The initial appointment with a new client or a new couple is used as a counselling assessment. This is an in-depth exploration about why the individual or couple is coming now, what they are looking & hoping for from counselling, their current circumstances and their past history. The initial appointment with an individual client takes 60 mins.
The initial appointment for a couple takes 90 mins.

About me and my therapy practice
I offer supervision to trainee or qualified counsellors either individually or in small groups. I can also offer on-line supervision.
For 5 years (2018-2023) I worked a supervisor for a large counselling organisation in Gloucestershire. I supervised both qualified as well as trainee counsellors.
As a supervisor I offer an environment of respect, trust, openness and honesty. My aim is to support and enable a supervisee to the best of my abilities, but also to provide a holding and nurturing environment, as at times therapeutic work can be very challenging and demanding.
I encourage and support each supervisee to develop their own way of working within the BACP Ethical Framework.
One of the core elements of supervision for me is to help the supervisee to explore their feelings in order to develop their thinking and deepen their understanding of what may be happening for the client in the therapeutic process. I see my role as a supervisor to enable a supervisee in developing this ability.
I do not charge for an initial meeting with a therapist who is thinking about receiving supervision from me. Once the therapist has decided that they wish for me to become their supervisor, I then aim to put a supervision agreement in place, which I discuss with a supervisee first. I feel it is important to have regular reviews and feed back sessions in order to make sure that the supervisee is satisfied with the service that I am offering.
I also offer supervision for therapists working with couples.
I have undergone a short training to support counsellors who wish to go through the BACP accreditation process with the aim of becoming BACP accredited. I can offer mentoring, support and a read-through service.
