About me and my therapy practice

How I Work

My approach to therapy is rooted in traditional talking therapy, where open dialogue serves as the foundation for exploring thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I believe in the power of words to heal, connect, and bring clarity. However, I also recognize that there are times when words alone may not be enough. In such instances, I incorporate creative exercises into our sessions. These creative methods—such as art, visualization, or other expressive techniques—can help facilitate expression when words are difficult to find, allowing for deeper exploration and understanding of one’s inner world.

Additionally, my practice is deeply intercultural, which means I pay close attention to the profound influence that culture, upbringing, and one's current environment have on mental well-being. I understand that culture encompasses more than just race; it includes the ideas, social norms, behaviors, and customs that shape our perceptions and experiences. By acknowledging and integrating these cultural aspects into therapy, I aim to create a space where clients feel seen and understood in the context of their unique backgrounds and identities.

Why Have Counselling?

Life is filled with challenges, and one of the greatest difficulties we face is finding the strength and resilience to be the best version of ourselves despite these struggles. My role as a therapist is to facilitate your growth toward authenticity, helping you to express your thoughts, feelings, and emotions freely and without fear of judgment.

I strive to empower you by providing a compassionate, empathetic, and non-judgmental listening ear. In our sessions, you will find a confidential and supportive environment where you can gain the mental space needed to explore your thoughts, feelings, and choices. Together, we will work toward your goals, whether that’s feeling better, growing as a person, or maximizing your personal potential.

Whether you are facing a specific issue or simply want to better understand yourself, my approach is designed to help you navigate your path with greater clarity and confidence. By combining traditional talking therapy with creative and intercultural methods, I aim to offer a holistic and tailored approach that meets you where you are and supports you in becoming who you want to be.

About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I am Sabrina, a Counsellor, Psychotherapist, and Supervisor in training. I offer Clinical Supervision from an integrative approach, with core training from Psychodynamic, Person-Centred, and Existential schools of thought. I also incorporate Creative techniques when words are not enough and encourage each therapist to explore and build their personal theoretical orientation.

As a supervisor, my role is to support and empower you to maximize the counselling process for yourself and your clients. My approach to ‘Good’ supervision includes opportunities for personal and professional development, deepening your knowledge, practice, and critical thinking skills. I facilitate reflection, self-awareness, and exploration of different ways of working. I challenge and provide space for you to challenge, ensuring ethical standards are maintained, helping you maintain client focus, empathy, and perspective, and supporting the exploration of transferential and countertransferential relationships. My aim is to build your confidence in your ‘internal supervisor’, unlocking your full potential as a therapist.

I have experience working with a wide range of issues, including trauma, workplace issues, neurodiversity, relationships, family issues, faith, the transpersonal, and intercultural dimensions. I work with supervisees in private practice or agencies, and provide supervision online.

Practice description

Welcome to my practice. I am committed to providing a supportive and empowering environment for supervises, tailoring the supervision process to your unique needs, theoretical orientation, and learning style.

In our sessions, you can expect to further your personal and professional development, deepen your knowledge, and enhance your critical thinking skills. I aim to facilitate reflective practice, self-awareness, and the exploration of different therapeutic methods. Our work together will focus on maintaining ethical standards, client empathy, and perspective, while also exploring transferential and countertransferential dynamics. I strive to help you develop your confidence and capabilities as a therapist, nurturing your ‘internal supervisor’.

In our supervision, we will work on maintaining the client's agenda, addressing issues of equity and diversity, and can work together on setting up and maintaining a private practice, as well as support with training and courses. I also have training in couples, child, relationship, and family therapy, with the bulk of my work focusing on adult clients.

I offer supervision for both clinical and non-clinical roles, including students, qualified Counsellors/Psychotherapists, and other well-being professionals, with sessions available for one hour or 1.5 hours. Group supervision (up to 4 members) is available upon inquiry. You can join an existing group, which will be more cost-effective than individual supervision, or form a new group for me to supervise.

As someone of mixed heritage (both African and Caribbean) and being neurodivergent, I bring a diverse perspective to my practice, enriching our work together.

If you represent an organization seeking a professional, creative, and integrative Supervisor, please feel free to contact me for an informal chat about your needs and requirements. More information is available on my website: www.Londoncounsellors.co.uk.

Thank you for considering my supervision services.
