About me and my therapy practice
Life can be difficult at times due to external or internal factors, or a mixture of both. This may be a time when we seek a space to talk about our feelings, thought, behaviours and associated elements. Counselling provides a space to reflect on things, experience items and consider ways to address the concerns.
Ultimately, you are the expert on you, and are uniquely you. You know what you are experiencing, as an individual, and can indicate what things require support. We will work together to consider these areas and current theories, explanations and strategies to enable you to grow and to address the areas.
Using an integrative counselling approach, I use a variety of approaches in a tailored way to support, facilitate and empower you.
To support you, during counselling, I have experience gained in varied contexts : as a counsellor, Senior Lecturer, Supervisor and Counselling Service Manager. These experiences have involved specialising in counselling theory, practice and application alongside considering ethics; and this knowledge and the skills are continually updated.
In a therapeutic relationship, we will explore the issues presented and your thoughts, emotions and behaviours with respect and empathy. Sometimes, emotions need to be expressed and accepted. Other times, there may be specific emotional management or alternative perspectives that may feel empowering. Your experiences will be respected and counselling will offer a non-judgemental space for you to explore and make your own sense of the most suitable way to manage and navigate things.
