About me and my therapy practice
Practice description
My first session
I usually recommend an initial 30-minute phone consultation. This costs £35. It is an opportunity to find out what it is that you want to be different in your life so that we can set clear goals to work towards. It is also an opportunity to get to know each other a little and see if we are a good fit. This, in itself, is a major contributing factor in the success of therapy.
We establish ground rules, boundaries and negotiate a comfortable contract.

About me and my therapy practice
Heather Murray (she/her)
Talk in confidence, without being judged, with someone who is trained to help. Online, or in person, sitting comfortably indoors or in the garden, or walking together on beautiful Buckland Hill.
I offer clinical supervision, counselling and psychotherapy from my base here in the Brecon Beacons. We can work together to support you on your journey towards emotional wellbeing and confidence as a clinician.
I provide clinical supervision for staff within the NHS setting. I have given supervision to students on placement and to third sector organisations.
I have been working as a Therapist in the NHS for over 20 years. I am trained in EMDR therapy for treating trauma and use a compassion and mindfulness-based approach throughout. I am an accredited member of the BACP, registered with the HCPC as a Music Therapist, BAMBA as a Mindfulness Teacher and Supervisor and a Yoga Teacher certified with the British Wheel of Yoga. I'm a Certified Sex Therapy Informed Professional with the Integrative Sex Therapy Institute.
Practice description
Listening with attention.
If you are looking for quality individual or group supervision sessions with a certified psychotherapist who cares, then you’ve come to the right place. We work together, setting achievable goals.
We can focus sessions on the therapy model of your choice. This may be a solution-focused counselling intervention. I am also a trained EMDR therapist and this approach is helpful to overcome trauma. I use mindfulness-based cognitive therapy to affect change in experiences of depression and anxiety.
Some people do not have words or prefer not to use words to communicate. I am a state registered music therapist and we can use this powerful non-verbal means of communication to achieve your aims within the supervisory process. I have beautiful, accessible instruments to hand and songwriting is another expressive medium we can explore.
Moving with compassion.
Sessions may take place sitting comfortably indoors, or outdoors in the tranquillity of the garden. We may talk together as we walk around nearby Buckland Hill. We may also move into yoga-based interventions for a holistic approach that includes body therapy.
Learning to feel grounded in our bodies helps us to feel more resilient and relaxed. People find this approach both beneficial and inspirational.
