About me and my therapy practice

Are you looking to explore your past and how this has shaped your life in the present? You may be feeling a sense of unease, are depressed, stuck or lack a sense of meaning or purpose? Psychodynamic therapy is insight driven and can help with looking at the deeper rooted issues which we may not always understand consciously, as they remain hidden or repressed. Understanding these patterns can give us a clearer picture of what is causing disharmony in your life.

Who is it useful for? - It can help with the treatment of depression and generalised anxiety disorder. It can also bring relief to those who are feeling dissatisfied or who exhibit the same dysfunctional patterns in relationships over and over again.

What can I offer you? -  working alongside each other, I will provide you with an opportunity to look at your problems in a different way. I will help you find your own answers without judgement. In my therapy room in Basingstoke, I provide 1:1 private psychodynamic therapy. I work with students, individuals,  seniors and couples. Get in touch today for an initial reduced fee consultation to see whether this type of therapy might be the type of therapy you have been looking for.

Practice description

I can offer you a regular safe, comfortable space in which you can truly be yourself. You will be listened to without judgement and accepted for who you are and what you bring. There is no perfect way to do therapy, come as you are and let us discover the real you.

My first session

The initial enquiry by phone or email will cover practical considerations like availability, fees, how many sessions, parking etc and we then decide on a mutually convenient time.

The initial consultation is a reduced fee session and we explore what is bringing you into therapy at this point in your life. You can  share what it is you are struggling with or what was in your mind when you decided to try psychodynamic therapy. We will discuss whether we can do some meaningful work together. I suggest you take a few days to think about how the session felt and I will check in with you to find out if you would like to continue with therapy.

About me and my therapy practice

Psychodynamic Therapy is an analytic therapy that works in a way in which each individual's unconscious thoughts and perceptions are developed and rooted in childhood. These unconscious patterns and behaviours can affect current, present day thoughts. The aim is to support you in recognising, experiencing and understanding your true deep rooted feelings in order to help resolve them. It is not an easy quick fix therapy and for those who are wanting a more CBT approach then this may not be for you. It is intended for people who want a truer insight into their internal life and want to change negative behaviour patterns.

Practice description

We meet for an initial therapy consultation. At this session you will tell me why you are here and we will begin to explore whether we can do some meaningful work together. After this session we will decide if it would be helpful for you to have some psychodynamic therapy. If we decide to start working together, an Agreement is drawn up where we set out each others' expectations. We then meet every week at the same time and place for as long as you want to. It is an open-ended therapy with regular reviews to see how you feel the therapy is going.
