About me and my therapy practice
Are you questioning whether you are autistic, ADHD (or both) or grappling with a recent diagnosis?
Have you experienced estrangement or are thinking of estranging yourself from your family? Or do you have relationship difficulties that you are unable to work through yourself?
Perhaps you have recently lost someone important to you, either through bereavement or because they no longer want to speak to you?
Are you looking for LGBTQ+ affirming therapy due to adversity you have experienced due to your gender or sexuality?
Or maybe you are here because you've identified something is not quite in your life. You are experiencing anxiety, depression or have low self-esteem or low self-confidence.
By helping you understand how your experiences have brought you to this point in your life we can find a more fulfilling way for you to live. Since 2011, I have supported hundreds of clients to work through their difficulties and to lead more fulfilling lives. Identifying your problems is the first step in working through them.
If you would like more information about me or my practice, send me an email, give me a call or visit www.therapybyjamie.co.uk.
My first session
Within our first session we will spend the first 10 minutes agreeing the contract we will work with and the rest of the time can be used as you'd like.
You might want to ask questions about me or what therapy will be like. You might want to start speaking about what's bringing you to therapy in the first place. Or you may want to start with a less distressing topic (e.g. something stressing you at work or in a friendship) to get a sense of what therapy is like with me without needing to divulge too much information if you are unsure whether we will continue.
However we use the time is up to you. The first session is for you to see what it is like to work with me and decide if you'd like to continue.

About me and my therapy practice
I can offer you an open, accepting and safe space to discuss your work and development and understand the role supervision plays in well-being, decreased burnout and job satisfaction.
I have been in the field of mental health since 2009, starting in NHS mental health services followed by psychotherapy training and have been a practising psychotherapist since 2011 with experience in both private practice, charities, schools and busineses.
My foundation in both therapy and supervision is in the phenomenological, what is happening between myself and my client/supervisee. In the same way that the therapeutic relationship is a microcosm of the client's relationship, the supervisory relationship is the same.
I completed supervision training at the Centre for Supervision Training and Development, based on the 7-eyed model of supervision (Hawkins and Shohet) which is a process model that focuses on the interplay between therapist, client and supervisor to help the supervisee understand the context of each.
Practice description
In this way it is not about knowing our clients, but about being open to the many possibilities they may be, rather than the one they may present (or the one I or anyone else has formed of them). I am happy to arrange a 15 minute telephone call with you to discuss how we might work together and hope to hear from you soon.
