How I can help -
Helping you overcome your issues and fulfilling your aims of therapy is central. We're all individuals and this is reflected in our work together. Amongst many other areas of focus, your sessions could include -
- Finding ways to manage your symptoms (of low mood and/or anxiety for example)
- Providing time and space for you to be listened to validate and process your feelings and experiences
- Finding ways to look after you to help you feel better and to function as you'd like to
- Dealing with issues in your closest relationships
- Developing your self-awareness to be able to deal with your issues more effectively
- Developing your coping strategies to allow them to be more effective
- Process the effect of past traumas to allow them to feel as though they are part of your past (rather than carrying them with you)
- Identifying patterns that are unwittingly maintaining symptoms and alter the patterns to free yourself
- Challenging inner mistaken beliefs that you may have created about yourself (such as not feeling good enough) that cause ongoing issues
- Finding ways to feel better about yourself
Practice description
As well as offering face to face counselling, I also provide telephone and online counselling. I have therapy rooms in Birmingham (Great Barr, B43 6AD) and in Sutton Coldfield (B73 6UH) that are easy to find and have parking facilities.
I have been a counsellor since 2006 and started my training in 2003. My desire to become a therapist came from wanting to have a career that helped others, that was purposeful and involved my deep interest for psychology.
The aims of my role is centred around helping others to lead a happier, more content and fulfilling life where we can be freer from anxiety, stress and low mood to appreciate and enjoy the endless wonderful elements of ourselves and our lives.
As an experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist, I have been accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) since 2009. I am also fully qualified with a First Class Honours Degree from Derby University in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and have a Diploma in Counselling.
