Availability

I work in my private therapy room on the Dartington Hall Estate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 9am-7:30pm. 

Online sessions are available on those days too, as well as on Mondays and Tuesdays before 2:30pm.

You're free to work with me on a short or long term basis, ending or pausing whenever you wish. I won't ask you to commit to any number of sessions, we can just see how it's feeling, session by session. Of course, I want to know if you're thinking of pausing or ending, so that I can help you explore this and learn how to make it more manageable.

Sessions are often weekly, though I understand that financial pressures can affect this. Meeting less often can then be a good idea, fortnightly is possible. My diary also allows some ad-hoc appointments, for example where work demands make a regular time impossible.

I support individuals (£60) and couples (£95) in my own private therapy room on the peaceful Dartington Hall Estate, just outside Totnes.

Talking with me, I hope you'll experience a deep acceptance for you just as you are, and that you'll feel listened to with great care and respect.

We explore together, building trust as we go, creating a deeper connection with your emotions, thoughts and behaviours. This allows a new relationship with the various parts of yourself to emerge, bringing new perspectives and choices.

You are the expert on your life, and so I give you the space to describe whatever you wish, and at a pace that's comfortable and feels safe to you. I trust that given the right environment in therapy, one that allows your inner knowing to emerge and guide you, you'll grow in your own way to be more fully yourself.

I'll help you create lasting change, gradually connecting with the life you want and moving towards it.

I also use the popular and well researched Emotionally Focused Therapy approach to support you in feeling more at ease with the different feelings and attitudes you find in yourself (particularly in one-to-one work). 

In couples therapy this approach will create more safety between you and your partner – more on this in the next section.

I'll help you feel heard and understood, wherever you are in your relationship.

EFCT gives a safe and effective route into the heart of your issues. We slow everything down so that there's space to tune into what's really going on, rebuilding trust and renewing your connection.

The patterns of reaction you've developed have been needed for you to feel safe and whole, to live with the fears and longings that exist in you. And your partner’s strategies may clash with yours, making it feel like a battle between you.

EFCT comes from over 25 years of research, led by Dr Sue Johnson, to understand how and why relationships do or don’t work. It's the most tested and successful couples’ therapy available.

My first session

Before booking your first session, you are welcome to have a free conversation with me, and ask any questions that would help you feel ready to make the next step.

In the first session, I'll explain about confidentiality and other things that help you settle and feel safe to really begin.  We start exploring what it’s like to be you, and the life situation you face at the moment.  

With couples, I'll meet you both together the first time, then individually on the second occasion, then back to couples.
