About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified and experienced BACP registered therapeutic counsellor. I meet and work with my clients either in Tenterden or Ashford, Kent and I offer to meet your needs with either short- or long-term counselling.
My experience as a counsellor has been with a community counselling agency and in private practice and I have worked with clients seeking help with a wide range of problems including low mood / depression, anxiety, abuse, low self-esteem, anger management, overcoming loss, compulsive thoughts and/or behaviours, trauma and relationship difficulties. I have also significant experience working with parents experiencing symptoms of postnatal depression.
I aim to create a safe, confidential and relaxed environment in which you and I can work together to explore and process the difficulties you are experiencing that might be preventing you from having the quality of life you seek.
My training and subsequent experience is drawn from several different theoretical approaches to counselling, with Person-centred theory as its foundation. I meet you as an unique, individual person and seek to understand and gain insight into how you experience your confusion, worry, discomfort, distress, or whatever it is that you bring that concerns you. I firmly believe (backed up by recent research) that the quality of our relationship is key to progress; a relationship in which you feel comfortable, feel heard and understood, where there is mutual trust and respect, and where you don’t fear judgement or criticism.
Please contact me to arrange an initial discussion, after which you can decide whether you’d like to engage with counselling to face whatever challenge you are currently experiencing.
