About me and my therapy practice
The minute you decide you want better for yourself is the minute the energy begins to shift. Your life does not get better by chance it gets better by change.
The choice to enter therapy, no matter the reason, is a difficult and sometimes painful one. I understand this and admire your bravery to take the first step to a new enriching life. I am ready to support you through the entire journey of healing. Change is possible and together, we can achieve it.
I offer a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients can delve into and explore core issues that are preventing them from living their life to the fullest. I believe that every client is an expert on their own life, and only through their willingness to adapt, can change take place. My aim is to be a co-facilitator on your journey to thrive.
I bring warmth, empathy, and a sense of humour. I can be challenging where necessary whilst being supportive and compassionate.
Practice description
I believe everyone is unique and as an integrative therapist I draw from multiple theoretical types of treatment and techniques to create a personalised approach. This approach will help you move toward healing and self-discovery.
I began my counselling journey at the Wintercomfort for the homeless charity in Cambridge and later I volunteered at Mind in Cambridgeshire. Currently I run my private practice and I am also associate counsellor at the Embrace CVOC charity. I work with children from age 7, young people and adults.
Clients come to see me for broad range of reasons. I assist with issues as trauma, terminal illness, domestic violence, anxiety, stress, depression, bereavement, self-esteem, relationship issues. I can help with other concerns and issues.
Counselling therapy may help you gain awareness, acceptance, self-esteem grow, empowerment and more.
I am fully insured and hold the Enhanced DBS.
My first session
When attending your first therapy session, you might feel unsure of what to expect. When starting your counselling journey, we will begin with an assessment.
The aim of assessment is to establish and understand the reason for you deciding to attend therapy. During the assessment, we will talk about your personal history to determine how it impacts your current problem, as well as exploring your hopes and expectations for therapy. It is a chance for us to both decide if we are suited to working together. I will invite you to tell me more about what brings you to therapy at this point in your life, and together we can begin to set some intentions for the work.
At the end of this session, we both sign my 'Therapy Agreement' which outlines the practical terms of working together, alongside my Privacy Statement, regarding GDPR. I will also ask you for some personal details such as your DOB and GP contact details which I hold in case of emergency. This is all the administration that is required at the start, with the aim of clarifying the practical terms of the process before we begin.
Please contact me initially via email or text as I can’t always answer the phone. I will get back to you as soon as possible.
