About me and my therapy practice
I am a BACP accredited counsellor with 23 years of experience in counselling adults, couples and clients in Employee Assisted Programmes, (EAPs.) I undertake between 30 and 100 hours yearly of continuous professional development to increase my own personal growth and learning to benefit my clients. My background is in nursing, Aromatherapy and complimentary therapies and I believe it is important to respond to the whole person, as well as to the obvious difficulties presented.
I offer both time-limited (6 - 18 weeks) and longer term weekly counselling to suit the client's individual needs, using an approach which integrates Psychodynamic therapy, (how past experiences shape present behaviour, attitudes and feelings) with relational, attachment and cognitive behavioural (CBT) therapies.
I offer weekday evening appointments.
Exploring and reflecting on present difficulties and emotional pain in a comfortable and private environment that is neither threatening nor controlling, can free you up to take back control over your own life, feelings, attitudes and choices.
Taking that first step to seek help is daunting but may I encourage you to take that first step with me today?
Practice description
I offer regular weekly face-to-face appointments in my comfortable and private consulting room in Hook, Hampshire as well as online counselling appointments using Zoom, WhatsApp or telephone. I have been offering online counselling since 2020, which many clients find more convenient, time and cost-saving as there are no travel or parking costs incurred and it opens up the possibility of continuing with regular sessions, even if one is away travelling or working. By all reports, my clients experience no significant loss of contact or rapport, by working with me online.
My first session
I believe that the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client is the most significant factor in bringing about change and relief from suffering, so choosing a counsellor whom you feel comfortable working with, is essential to the success of the work. To help you make this decision, I offer a one hour initial session, free of charge and there is no obligation to continue with sessions afterwards unless we both wish to do so.
