About me and my therapy practice
Once you have registered your interest I will make a time to speak with you to establish first, our mutual availability and then discuss what is bringing you for therapy at this time.
Then we will arrange to meet for an initial session to sit together and talk in more detail about your situation, hopes and expectations of therapy and to decide if you would like to work with me and I can help you.
Sessions are 50 minutes and I work weekly unless otherwise discussed for exceptional circumstances and this comes down to individual needs.
I consider up to 20 sessions as short term, beyond this is open ended or longer term. I am happy to work in a time-limited way if this fits with what you hope to achieve and get out of the work.
Whether we work together short or longer term I regularly review how things are going, this can provide helpful space and conversations about expectations and how hopes and needs may have changed; it can be a good way to assess how therapy is helping and a gage of change.
My fee is £85/ session.
After 5pm I charge £90/session.
I have some places for sliding scale fees if you are out of work, or studying full time. These are decided on an individual case basis and after careful discussion between us. Please let me know before we start that you'd like this to be considered.
Practice description
I have been working for nearly 20 years in an integrative way; this means I have studied psychodynamic therapies, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and CBT methods. My certificates and Masters were rooted in Humanistic ways of thinking about people and our emotional internal worlds which might more recently be considered a Relational way of working.
I am not a blank canvas but your sessions are about and for you, I hope to foster with you a deep understanding of how you have come to think, feel and act in your life especially where these may not be serving you as you would like.
Therapy can be challenging, things sometimes can feel worse before they feel better. But gaining a vocabulary to speak about feelings and fears can be experienced as very liberating I hope to create a space to talk as openly as possible and the hope is that you feel heard and seen in order to make changes, small or large, that make a real difference to your life. These changes may not be visible to others but the hope is that you will carry the changes in you in a way that feels meaningful.
