About me and my therapy practice

I have extensive experience in the public sector, in private practice and as a training therapist for psychotherapy students. I work deeply but gently and am sensitive to how difficult it can feel to begin therapy.

I offer long term depth psychotherapy, working to understand together the concerns you bring, and the unconscious motivations that are hidden beneath them.

Symptoms and diagnoses, distressing and uncomfortable as they are, can be understood as our systems trying to let us know there is something unknown that needs our awareness.

We will work together to explore and understand the layers of your concerns, developing compassion towards the wounded parts, and cultivating a secure and trusted space for new ways of being to grow.

Practice description

Therapy is often thought of as 'the talking cure', but just as important as the things that are said between us in a session, are the things that are not said. Non verbal communication is just as valued as the ability to put things into words. Sometimes the way things 'just feel' in the room between us tells us more than what is being said.

Bringing any dreams you might have, for us to think about together, can be a very helpful way of understanding some of the more unconscious parts of ourselves. As can any images (drawings, paintings, makings of any sort) you might have made.

You might even choose to make an image during a session as there is a wide range of art materials in the room we work in together.

Therapy is a journey of self discovery - it can be surprising to discover how one really thinks and feels underneath the 'scripts' we all live under.

I am theoretically informed by Object Relations Developmental theories, Art Psychotherapy theories, and the Depth Analytic theories of Jung. I am registered as an Art Psychotherapist on the HCPC Register.
