About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes in life we find ourselves struggling with our inner thoughts and feelings and we behave in ways we find difficult to understand. It could be that we have experienced a life changing event, or it could just be that something inside does not feel right, and we cannot explain why. Asking for help can be very daunting, but an incredibly valuable first step to change.
I offer a safe, confidential, non-judgmental space in which to explore those feelings and thoughts, what they may mean to you, and help you to understand how to release the inner turmoil and move forward with your life.
I believe counselling is about the individual and the expert on you is you. My role as a professional is to listen, and facilitate self awareness, this enables growth and long-term coping mechanisms for the future. My approach depends on the individual client, the issues they face and what they want from the process. I trained as an Integrative Counsellor, this includes Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. I am an accredited registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their ethical code of conduct. This means that my clients are my main priority, and I am focussed on their welfare.

About me and my therapy practice
I can offer my supervisees a tailored approach, depending on their theoretical perspective, their client’s needs, any organisational requirements, and the individual supervisee’s preferred way of working.
I have a Level 7 NCPS Accredited Advanced Diploma in Counselling Supervision, which means I have an in depth knowledge of ethical and legal requirements to practice, complexities that may arise through the supervision process, and the responsibilities I hold as a supervisor to my supervisee, their clients and the organisations in which they may work.
I believe that effective supervision is based on establishing a good supervisory relationship. This means working collaboratively, with mutual respect, agreeing the aims of supervision and being honest and open about the work involved. I want my supervisees to feel they are heard, understood, and get what they need from every session. This is why I spend time discussing the supervisory contract, to establish how to work together, and the expectations on both.
My values in supervision are to ensure my supervisee has opportunities for learning and developing, they feel empowered and believe I am fully supportive of them as a professional. I want my supervisees to feel able to discuss strengths and weaknesses with me, without judgement or fear, and to feel comfortable to seek guidance when needed.
I consider the developmental stage of my supervisees and will adapt how we work depending on counselling experience.
The supervisory models I work with enable me to help my supervisee to be an ethical and competent practitioner, I also have a duty to ensure they are in a good place to be able to manage the often-demanding nature of the work they do. Each session can be very different depending on what the supervisee brings, we set aims for the session, prioritising what is most important and immediate, and work through the issues together until a satisfactory outcome or strategy for moving forwards is agreed.
Practice description
Online:
I can offer online supervision, using VSee. This means supervision is easily accessible, at a time, date and place most suitable to needs. It also means you can access supervision from outside of the local area, which provides more choice of supervisor, and it is important to find a supervisor who you can work effectively with.
In person:
I can offer supervision in person from my office if you live in the area. I am located about 5 miles outside of Wrexham, North Wales. I can also offer a combination of both if preferred.
Organisation:
If you are looking for supervision for a team, I would be able to negotiate to attend the workplace monthly, to have individual, in person supervision with several supervisees, as required.
Group:
I can offer group supervision, either online or in person at the workplace/placement depending on needs. I do restrict groups to 3 supervisees, as I feel it works better for effective supervision.
My first session
I can offer a free 30 minute initial discussion, to enable us to talk through what you, as the supervisee, expect from your supervision, and how I as the supervisor work. From this initial discussion we then agree if we feel we are suited to work together, and we can arrange a first supervision appointment.
I will send you out my contract for you to read through before our first session, and we can then discuss any areas we need to clarify or amend when we meet. I believe this is a crucial element to spend some time with, as it is the foundation of the supervisory relationship.
What I can help with
Anger management, Anxiety, Bereavement, Child related issues, Depression, Eating disorders, Health related issues, Identity issues, Loss, Menopause, Obsessions, OCD, Phobias, Pregnancy related issues, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Spirituality, Stress, Trauma, Women's issues, Work related issues
