About me and my therapy practice
I have been practising as a psychodynamic counsellor for over 20 years and can provide short or long-term counselling, as appropriate for each client. Psychodynamic counselling looks at how current behaviour can be affected by early life experiences, some of which are unconscious but can be brought to light by talking about childhood memories in the sessions, and by dreams.
Practice description
I aim to provide a warm and informal atmosphere in the sessions, in which each individual feels accepted by me and not in any way judged. I place great emphasis on the relationship that develops between me and each client, as it is essential that they feel they are in a safe space where feelings, thoughts and memories can be accessed easily.
My first session
The first session is an introductory one and no charge is made. I will complete an assessment of each client's history and what they hope to achieve through the counselling process. It is important that the client and I both feel that we will be able to work well together and, if that is the case, arrangements will be made for further sessions.

About me and my therapy practice
Since qualifying over 20 years ago, I have worked with a wide variety of clients, offering both short and long term one-to-one counselling. My training was in psychodynamic counselling, which looks at how events in the individual's early life can influence present experiences and behaviour. I place great emphasis on the relationship between counsellor and client and offer a relaxed and informal environment in which the client can feel contained and comfortable. I provide face-to-face sessions but also offer Zoom or telephone sessions.
Practice description
I live in Frinton-on-Sea, just a 5 minute walk from the mainline railway station and a 10 minute walk from the High Street. There is plenty of parking outside the house.
My first session
The first session will be an introductory one, when you can tell me what brings you to counselling and what you would like to achieve from the time we have together. It is important that you feel comfortable working with me and you do not need to make an immediate decision about whether you wish to have counselling. You do not need to commit to having a certain number of sessions, but if you decide to go ahead we can continue for as long as it feels helpful.
