About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced Counsellor/Psychotherapist who works with individuals, couples and families. I focus on how we relate to others and manage our connectedness to them. Whether in business, with partners or with friends, our desire for human closeness can bring us joy and comfort, or conflict and disharmony.

Sometimes change is driven by others, sometimes we need something to change but don't know the best way to go about it. Perhaps you’re stuck in a destructive communication pattern and feel like you’re going round in circles. Maybe you don’t really know what you want, but would like to find out.

Relate trained, I can help you to figure out whether you should mend bridges, re-organise your life or move on.

I'm qualified to master's level and am a trained supervisor and lecturer. The counselling models I work most with are the ones that help us understand ourselves and our connections with others. I am an integrated therapist, which means that I tailor the way I work uniquely to you. I have an understanding of power, control and trauma, which can help you unpick complicated situations.

Practice description

I offer short- or long-term counselling/psychotherapy in a comfortable and tranquil setting, to give you the space and time to figure out what's next. I also offer online sessions, which may suit you if you’re a busy person, or have further to travel.

Usually, I offer a brief chat over the phone to give you an idea of what you can expect, and then we book an initial session. From there, we can decide together an approach which works for you.

Counselling is a conversation between you and I, which will give you the opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings and look at how to navigate life's difficulties.

About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced Clinical Supervisor who has worked in both an organisational (Relate) setting, and in private practice, and I offer supervision to therapists who see adults, couples, families and young people. Trained in an integrated approach, which focusses primarily on Psychodynamic, Attachment and Systemic theories, I have also taught integrated counselling at Master’s level, which included Transactional Analysis, CBT, Solution Focussed Therapy amongst other theories.

As a supervisor, the approach I work closest to is Hawkins and Shohet Seven-eyed model, and as a Systemic Practitioner, I have a systems (relationships) focus. This means that our work together will pay attention to the supervisory relationship, ensuring that we develop a trusting and supportive alliance. Knowledge of attachment styles, parallel processes, projection and transference means that we can create a deeper and more trusting relationship between you and your clients. An awareness of client and counsellor context and relationships encourages an ability to look at the work from different perspectives and through different lenses.

I believe that, as a supervisor, I do not need to maintain an aloofness and distance from the people I work with, and encourage a free exchange of ideas and thoughts.

Practice description

I offer individual supervision both in person, in a tranquil and private setting, and online.

I also offer specialised, one off, supervision sessions which focus on a particular subject area, such as addiction, couple therapy, family work or Attachment Theory.  Group supervision can be arranged by request.

My first session

I offer a 60 minute discovery session free of charge for potential supervisees, which enables us to get to know each other a little better, and will support a decision to work together on a longer term basis.
