Practice description
My Aim is for Therapy to be a Good Experience for You.
I believe each young person needs a space where they feel heard and understood. This ultimately promotes feelings of empowerment as each person becomes equipped to decide what works best for them; and in turn make the right choices going forward.
I am specially trained to work with young people. I have an MSC in Young Adult and Adolescent Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I am also an accredited member of my professional body (BACP). This is a professional qualification of proficiency which is attained after a number of years in practice.
My therapy is client led and non-directive so you decide what we discuss each week.
I'm a warm, empathic and non-judgemental counsellor who connects very well with young people.
I work with diverse young people in different educational settings, those at the onset of their careers, or those still deciding what to do. I also work with adolescents.
Because you're a young person and sometimes finances might be tight, we can agree how much you pay for each session.
Email or contact me for a free initial telephone consultation where we'll discuss what you need help with and how we might work together.
My first session
The initial session will be our first meeting and an opportunity to get to know each other.
You may feel a little nervous initially; I will help relax you.
If you don't know what to say; I may ask questions about your family and relationships to gain some insight into the issues for which you have come to therapy.
If it's your first time in therapy, during this session you'll experience how I will listen, understand and empathise with you. I will also give my young clients lots of positive regard. This is essentially, is how we will work together.
At the end of the session I may suggest themes which might be helpful to explore in subsequent sessions. You decide when you feel ready to explore these further.
You may also have questions you wish to ask me.
