About me and my therapy practice
I am a BACP accredited counsellor and a registered member of the ACC and ACTO, with over 12 years of progressive experience in supporting clients with a variety of needs both in my private practice, and within a non-profit organisation. I offer the flexibility of working with clients face to face, online or over the telephone.
I work with all age groups, specialising in working with children and young people. My therapeutic approach stems from a Person Centred perspective, with a blend of different therapeutic models to form an integrative way of helping. This means that the sessions I offer are tailored specifically to support you as an individual by meeting you where you are in life.
Therapy is most effective as a collaborative process. I believe in empowering clients by walking alongside them, actively listening and offering tools if appropriate through psychoeducation.
Practice description
CYP Counselling - Children and Young People
Counselling can feel daunting for anyone, let alone children and young people. I make use of a range of engaging and creative tools through the sessions to help your young person have a sense of ease as they explore difficult emotions, learn new skills as well as develop a sense of autonomy.
Adults
You may be seeking counselling because you are struggling to cope with changes in your life or feeling overwhelmed with emotion from a traumatic experience. To support you therapeutically, I may use techniques that involve working creatively with different mediums or incorporate methods from CBT, Compassion Focused Therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Regardless of the approach, our time together will provide space and time for you to reflect, process and heal.
My first session
My initial contact with you will be a free phone consultation. This is an opportunity for you to share what it is you would like to explore in counselling.
This time together also gives you the chance to ask any questions you may have about the therapeutic process as well as give you a sense of what it would be like for us to work together.
For parents who refer their child or young person for counselling, I always encourage a follow up consultation with your CYP so that they get a sense and a say of whether they would like to work with me. This can be really beneficial in how they then choose to engage with therapy.
