About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I am Wendy - welcome to my profile.

I am a fully qualified integrative Counsellor/Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor, with over 20 years’ experience of working with clients, both adult and adolescent in a range of counselling settings. I am accredited and registered with the BACP, FDAP and the UKCP.

I utilise an integrative approach to therapy, with my clients, as I am a great believer one size rarely fits all. I offer you a safe and confidential space to explore whatever is going on for you and I will use my skills to empower you and help you move forward and facilitate the changes you would like.

I am life-loving, laugh-loving and I love to be inspired and I love inspiring others. I do have a Hearing Dog, called Jinga, who will usually be in the therapy room. If that is ever a concern for a client, she can happily rest and sleep in another treatment room.

Why counselling?

People come to counselling for many reasons, either because of past or current life events. Sometimes it might be to understand more about how they you are thinking or feeling, or to discuss life changes, or to develop coping strategies. I will offer you a safe and confidential space to help you make sense of your thoughts, feelings and experiences.

My approach is that we work together on the concerns and issues that you bring. I am interested in helping people feel a sense of belonging, and of courage to tackle what life throws at them. We work together to find a way to change our response to difficulties, to give ourselves more choice.

It can be extremely daunting to take that first step to counselling, but I believe that talking therapy can help you to live a more fulfilling life.

Practice description

I have been in private practice for over 20 years. I am based in a beautiful treatment room within a private health clinic setting at Ezra Healthcare. The clinic is assessable, has ample parking directly outside included dedicated disabled parking and is located on the St Asaph Business Park with great connections to the nearby A55.

I am an integrative counsellor/psychotherapist and believe that all approaches to therapy have value, what is key is ensuring you feel heard, respected and accepted. My core counselling philosophy is Person Centred, and I will work with you to agree the best approach to your therapy.

I believe that therapy works best when you feel you have a safe confidential space to talk about your life and anything that may cause you to feel overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or emotional.

My first session

In our first session we will explore the issues, difficulties and concerns that bring you to counselling. We will then work to develop a collaborative plan to help you move forwards.

Although it may seem a little daunting, it is important in helping both of us to gain a sense of who you are and what concerns you at this point in your life.

It is equally important that you have time to decide if you wish to work with me beyond the first session.
