About me and my therapy practice

I offer a compassionate and confidential space, where people can feel safe to explore difficulties in their life and relationships, in a way that is accepting and non-judgmental.

Over more than a decade, I have worked successfully with a wide variety of clients, supporting them through difficult times by helping them to express and understand their thoughts and feelings, transform the relationship with themselves and others, and live their lives more confidently.

Having an interest in unconscious meanings and processes, I integrate psychoanalytic and Jungian approaches in an open and creative way, for instance, when working with dreams, personal or interpersonal experiences.

In addition to work with the unconscious, external relationships and the influences from the past or deeper unconscious that shape our "internal world", I am particularly interested in the different "parts" (or sub-personalities) that each of us have within ourselves, born from identifications with important figures in our lives or as responses to powerful life events. In my experience, these parts are mostly protective but they may have unintentionally become stuck.

Key to my work is to "listen" with deep empathy to what different parts you are bringing up in our session and to help create some coherence, some dialogue between them.

* Spaces are currently available for 3-times weekly sessions at a reduced rate. *

Practice description

I am a qualified and experienced psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist (MSc) and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I am also a member of the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) as a counsellor and work within the ethical frameworks for good practice of both professional bodies.  I have undertaken group work training at the Institute of Group Analysis (IGA) and I am currently on an advanced training in Jungian Psychoanalysis.

In addition to my work in private practice, I highly value the role of communities and the role of a therapist within the wider context of society. I work as a group therapist at Room to Heal in Islington, supporting refugees and survivors of human rights violations. As part of my ethical and socially responsible stance, I work in an LGBTQ+ affirmative way.

My first session

I usually arrange for one or two initial sessions, as an opportunity for us to get to know each other and find out how we might work together in a way that is helpful. We can then agree how we would like to proceed. I see this is not as a formal assessment but rather as two-way conversation as I believe choosing a therapist that "matches" will be much more helpful in the long run.

Spaces are currently available for 3-times weekly sessions at a reduced rate.

Availability

I have availability for online and in person sessions and the frequency of our supervision can be fully negotiated to a way that is helpful to you and to your work.

About me and my therapy practice

I see supervision first and foremost as a supportive, compassionate and judgment-free space of reflection on any aspect of the clinical work, including for example practical issues and how the therapeutic relationships affect you.

Practice description

My background is Psychodynamic, while I hold a curious and non-rigid position. I am currently training as a Jungian analyst and have an interest in working with dreams and paying respectful attention to the unconscious and especially archetypal/numinous aspects of this. Therefore I tend to look positively at mistakes and also welcome humour, playfulness and all forms of creativity to enter the space and inform our learning together. In addition, I have over 10 years of specialist experience in working with refugees and people asylum seeking people and value to social-political contexts in all clinical work.
