About me and my therapy practice
I am an approachable integrative Counsellor/Psychotherapist who believes that each tiny change can make a difference. It is through gaining personal insight that we may view existing issues in a different light.
When seeking therapy it is important that you find the right therapist, with whom you can connect. I am interested in working with clients in a relational way, facilitating the client to find the answers within; based upon their internal world and experiencing. Working collaboratively within this safe space allows one to explore some of those challenging areas of life, in order to gain a different outcome. It provides a confidential space to feel supported when your needs are not being met.
I have been practicing for 14 years and have gained experience across a wide sector volunteering at local charities including RB Mind, RCPS and Brent Bereavement Services. I now work in private practice in office in Richmond, although currently I am able to offer Skype or Telephone sessions only until further notice. I see clients of all varied ages and backgrounds.
I have valuable experience in depression, self-esteem, anxiety, bereavement, loss, enhancing and maintaining relationships, as well as separation or pre and post divorce issues (one to one) particularly in a supportive capacity. Examining feelings at a deeper level as well as "limiting beliefs" can prove helpful in discerning how or why we may be feeling blocked. The Life Coaching skills can be drawn upon to encourage motivation through the setting of attainable goals. Therapy can prove to be insightful as you learn to understand yourself better and to let go of unhelpful thoughts and limiting beliefs.
Please do not hesitate to contact me by phone, text, watts app or e'mail to make an initial appointment, or with any queries you may have and I will respond as soon as I can. I offer sliding scale fees.
Practice description
I have been practicing for 14 years and I am currently offering online and telephone counselling through Skype or Telephone until further notice.
During the initial consultation I will need to carry out an assessment which requires taking some notes to gain essential background information and asking about any queries or concerns a client may have. It is a good opportunity to voice what you feel you are looking to address and achieve from therapy and to ensure that we both feel able to work well together.
I aim to connect with clients through working collaboratively, developing a strong and trusting relationship, whilst creating a safe, non judgmental space in which to work. Gently exploring a client's inner world allows for insight and helps to facilitate growth and potential. I strongly believe that each client has the answers within.
Coming from an Integrative Perspective, I draw upon a range of theoretical models using the "Humanistic" approach as an overarching baseline, alongside CBT, Pychodynamic and T.A. tailoring the therapy to the specific needs of each individual.
My first session
As mentioned above, during the first session I will need to take detailed notes to carry out an assessment. This is standard practice and consists of gaining basic contact details, a background history, presenting issues, education and work details, support networks available, health and well being etc. This is an opportunity to ask any further questions and to explain more fully what to expect from therapy. This helps to ensure that it is the right fit for both Client and Therapist.
