About me and my therapy practice
EMDR Therapist - Individual & Couples Therapist . With 15 years experience, I support individuals, and couples, to understand the issues impacting their lives. My aim is to support people through change and therefore look towards a more positive future. This is achieved when working collaboratively within a non-judgmental, empathic and good therapeutic relationship, which appreciates and completely respects the individual’s or a couple’s right to confidentiality. Counselling can seem like taking a step in to the dark – but there is light that shines within us all.

About me and my therapy practice
I am an Integrative Counsellor, EMDR therapist and Couples Therapist for Depression— with over fifteen years experience.
As an Integrative counsellor I blend together different therapeutic theories depending on the individual’s needs, issues or where they are in their therapy journey. My aim is to support individuals to understand where their difficulties may have originated— how to change their beliefs about themselves and therefore look towards a more positive future.
This is achieved through a non-judgmental, empathic, good therapeutic relationship. I respect the individual’s right to confidentiality.
For the last eight years I have also worked within NHS IAPT services (increased access to psychological therapies). Combining Counselling, CBT and EMDR; this enables me to work with a range of issues and symptoms: stress, anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, depression, addictions, OCD, low self-esteem and confidence issues, PTSD and childhood trauma. Grief and bereavement. Eating disorders/disordered eating. LGBT— sexual identity, sexuality.

About EMDR
Eye movement desensitisation reprocessing -
The mind can often heal itself naturally, in the same way as the body does. Much of this natural coping mechanism occurs during sleep, particularly during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. Francine Shapiro developed Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) in 1987, utilising this natural process in order to successfully treat Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Since then, EMDR has been used to effectively treat a wide range of mental health problems— (get self help).
