About me and my therapy practice
Therapy can be challenging but can also be rewarding.
Everybody goes through difficulties in life and my aim is for us to work together to explore and alleviate any issues which are preventing you from moving forward.
My work, training and personal experience has shown me that people grow through supportive and caring relationships and that the healing of deep wounds is possible. You are the best expert on yourself and I am committed to nurturing change and will endeavour to be as real and open as I can, whilst also bringing the knowledge and skills from my experience and training, to facilitate insight.
I hold a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Person Centred Counselling and in addition, over the years had extensive training in Counselling Children and Young People, Neuroscience and Attachment Theory, Autism and Acquired Brain Injury.
I have worked with adults and young people for many years in various settings, including educative setting and I have a sound understanding of this environment and from my bilingual support experience of the challenges that English as additional language entails.
I attend regular supervision and training and have full professional liability insurance.
My work is with people of all ages and I think it is truly important to look after our mental health throughout our lives. I recognise that barriers to counselling exist such as financial, disability or work patterns. I offer flexible session times, reserved sessions for people on low income, on line sessions, telephone, short or long term sessions.
Practice description
I believe relationships are at the heart of being human and this informs the way I practice.
Our emotional, physical and spiritual connections with ourselves, each other, our environment, communities and the world around us, all have the power to influence our wellbeing. My experience, personal and professional, is that within the warmth, acceptance and honesty of the counselling relationship, clients are able to explore and process thoughts, feeling and difficulties and move forward to live a more fulfilled life.
I am passionate about my work, I value difference, empowerment, kindness to selves and each other, and the freedom to choose. I believe we are all unique and amazing and experience the world in our own subjective ways.
Our work together will be collaborative, with a focus on your process of growth and how best to facilitate change and alternative ways to deal with challenges that life brings.
My first session
I recognise the importance and the challenge of finding the right counsellor for you and that the process of therapy requires courage and commitment. I offer a free 20 minutes initial phone call, to meet each other, where you can give me a brief overview of why you maybe seeking counselling and ask any questions you may have. From here we can book a first session and discuss how best we can work together.
Please feel free to contact me to arrange an initial phone call.
