About me and my therapy practice
Hi, welcome to my profile page.
I am a fully qualified, BACP registered, integrative therapist. I qualified in 2006 from Warwick University.
I have a wealth of experience, training and skill set, gained in private practice and across different settings.
Some of the settings I have worked in include; specialist counselling teams for Birmingham City Council, in hospitals alongside medical professionals , , charitable organisations, domestic abuse, sexual health, Education & Disability - including Autism/ Neuro diversity
By nature, I am a warm and compassionate person .
I believe you are the expert on yourself, not me, but life can sometimes give us challenges that can feel insurmountable.
When life becomes difficult we can feel overwhelmed, often alone and our mental health and sense of self can deteriorate .
Asking for support can be something we find incredibly hard to do but seeking help from a qualified and experienced therapist can be a start.
To truly be yourself and share your feelings and thoughts is something we usually find a significant challenge, often impossible. But, given the right conditions of a non judgmental , confidential & safe space - we are more likely to reveal our worries and true feelings.
It is with this in mind that I am genuinely myself.
It is important that you feel safe and understood as we work together to explore your world and the difficulties you face.
As an Integrative therapist I am able to draw on different methods and strategies that help us work together, at a pace you feel happy with and in a way that works for you.
I have additional qualifications and experience in
Advanced Counsellor training, CBT, Sand Play therapy, Family mediation qualified, , Raising self esteem, Autism/ADHD/ Diversity, Domestic abuse, Disability & Training the trainer qualified.
I continue to train, learn and develop my competencies that improve my ability to fully support my clients when they engage in counselling.
Practice description
I believe strongly in the Person Centred approach, that we can be our true selves when we are given the ‘right conditions’ of a non-judgemental, empathic, compassionate , supportive and safe environment.

My first session
I generally use this session to explore, with you, what brings you to therapy and what is happening in your life at present . This is helpful in working out where we want to start , your expectations and what we might achieve from the sessions.
We will also use this session for contracting so we both know what to expect , for example frequency and length of sessions, cancelling session etc
Confidentiality , contact between us and any practical issues can also be worked out at this stage .
It is important that you are fully included and feel in control of any arrangements we make together from the start.
Equally important at this session is for you to feel safe, supported and that you able to be yourself, as much as is possible for our first meeting.
