About me and my therapy practice

“When you can’t look at the bright side, I will sit with you in the dark” Lewis Carol

Is lack of confidence, people pleasing or self-doubt making you feel exhausted, fearful or overwhelmed? Maybe you long to try new things and do what you really want without anxiety, low mood or depression putting up barriers.

I work with people just like you, offering a safe, welcoming and confidential space that respects your uniqueness.

If you are here, you are probably experiencing some difficulties and are looking for someone to help. I have supported many people with their life journeys. My aim is to help you understand yourself, your feelings and responses. Once you understand yourself you can take steps towards self-compassion, self-confidence and a stronger identity.

Coming to counselling is not an easy decision, but it’s a brave one. I believe that everyone has the innate ability to heal. You may not know it yet, but within you, there is the ability to heal, grow and thrive. My aim is to help you listen to your inner voice and strength, so that you can move forward into a life you wish to lead.

Being a Person-Centred Counsellor means that I will always keep your goals, wants and desires at the forefront of the therapeutic work we do together.

I am really passionate about supporting people and have 20 years’ experience of listening to many life stories and helping both men and women make sense of their feelings, struggles and difficulties, whether that be due to past issues or present ones.

So, whatever the issue, through my professional training and  experience I will offer you a safe and confidential therapeutic space to help you explore your struggles with empathy and without judgement.

Practice description

Specialisms:

I have a wide range of experience with varying presenting issues. However, I specialise in counselling people with depression, low self-esteem and/or anxiety.

I have experience working within the NHS (primary care), within the mental health field in Mind (charity) and with the LGBTQI community whilst working in Terrance Higgins Trust. I have also worked as a staff counsellor in various government departments.

I currently work with veterans and their families at the charity Help for Heroes, where I specialise in online and telephone counselling.

This has provided me with experience of working across a diverse spectrum of people in terms of gender, sexual identity, ethnicity, age, race and class.

I have experience of working with people both in short-term and long-term therapy.

I offer counselling to individuals over the age of 18.

Online counselling (via Zoom):

Online counselling can be a benefit if your location or personal circumstances makes it difficult for you to meet up physically. Online therapy allows you to have a session in your own home. I have worked fully online for the last 2 years and during the pandemic and specialise in this form of therapy.

Face to face:

I also have a therapy room in E18. Availability on Mondays.

My first session

I offer a free 20-minute telephone consultation to introduce ourselves and see if we would like to meet for an initial assessment session.

If we decide to go ahead, we will schedule an initial exploratory appointment called an assessment. The assessment session is an opportunity for us both to get a feel of how we might work together and for me to begin to understand your concerns and/or struggles.

At the end of the assessment, we will make an initial agreement i.e. frequency and day/time of session.

Fees:

£60 per session (50 minutes) – daytime up to 5pm

£65 per session (50 minutes) – evenings after 5pm & weekends

I also offer some low-cost slots for trainee counsellors
