About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced counsellor, offering day and evening appointments, in a peaceful, private setting. I mainly work short term with individual adults.
I work face to face and also online, offering a supportive, non judgemental environment to work through issues in a confidential, safe and effective way, to enable new perspective on past and current issues and tools to cope with future life. I work in a Person Centred way which focuses on the counselling relationship, established through support and empathy. I am also trained to teach Mindfulness, which has been shown to relieve anxiety and stress, as well as reduce and prevent depression.
Some people simply need one session to share their grief or difficulty. Some clients benefit from a certain number of sessions, such as six or twelve, and we can agree to work towards completing in that time.
Sometimes clients like to come for an occasional visit after completing a piece of work and they can email or text to arrange a session at short notice.
I am able to work face to face, I can offer on-site parking and I am about ten minutes walk from East Finchley tube station. The number 143 bus runs from the tube station to a stop very close to my front door. I have parking at my house.
Practice description
I have an Advanced certificate and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling. I have experience working with adults and young people. I have offered short and long term counselling covering a wide range of different issues. I work in a Person Centred way helping raise confidence and self-esteem. I have been trained to teach Mindfulness, which has been shown to help people learn to manage anxiety and worry and avoid depression. I have also had experience in working with adults who have suffered Childhood Abuse. I have been counselling for many years and now have my own private practice.
I am an accredited member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists), which means that I adhere to their code of ethics and framework for good practice (see www.bacp.co.uk.). As required by the BACP, I am in regular supervision and follow an ongoing programme of continuing professional development.
My first session
I hope to help you relax and feel at ease, while I get to know you during the first session. It can be challenging to embark on a counselling journey and my aim is to make sure that you feel comfortable and able to talk freely about your worries and concerns. Working in a Person Centred way means that you lead and I follow. In my experience clients get a great sense of relief during the first session, having felt able to be themselves and express themselves freely.
