About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced counsellor, mainly working short term with individual adults in a peaceful and private setting.
I welcome face to face and also online clients, providing a supportive, non-judgemental environment for clients to work through issues in a confidential, safe and effective way, to find new perspectives on past and current issues and to develop effective ways to cope with future life.
My counselling is based on the Person Centred approach which focuses on the quality of the counselling relationship, established through trust, openness, non-judgemental support and empathy. My work also includes the use of Mindfulness, to relieve anxiety and stress, as well as to reduce and prevent depression.
Some people may simply need one session to address the issues they wish to bring and others feel they would benefit from a greater number of sessions. We can discuss your needs and agree a fixed number of sessions, for example six or twelve, with the aim of completing our work in that time.
Sometimes after completing a specific piece of work, clients may like to come for an additional supportive visit and they can email or text to arrange an additional session.
I can offer on-site parking for clients and my rooms are about ten minutes walk from East Finchley tube station. The number 143 bus runs from the tube station to a stop very close to my front door. The 112 bus also stops a few minutes away.
Practice description
I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and adhere to their ethics and framework for good practice.
I hold an Advanced certificate and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling. My training was integrative and I offer short and long term counselling, covering a wide range of different issues. My work is now founded on the Person Centred approach, helping raise confidence and self-esteem. I have been trained to teach Mindfulness, which has been shown to help people learn to manage anxiety and worry and avoid depression.
I have considerable experience working with both adults and young people and also in working with adults who have suffered Childhood Abuse.
My first session
In our first session I hope to help you relax and feel at ease. We will talk about what you would like to achieve from counselling and discuss our preferred way of working. We can reach an agreement on the terms on which we will work together.
It can be challenging to embark on a counselling journey and my aim is to make sure that you feel comfortable and able to talk freely about your worries and concerns within our agreed boundaries of confidentiality. My clients have often expressed a great relief to feel able to be themselves and express themselves freely, without feeling judged.
