About me and my therapy practice

I offer integrative, relational therapy to adults, young adults and adolescents. I also work with children using a play therapy and attachment-based approach, and support parents and families. Having recently lived and worked in Asia, I have an understanding of different cultural approaches, and a particular interest in in supporting expats and those who have spent formative years living or being educated in cultures different from their parents’ (adult/third culture kids).

We are all the product of our genes, temperament, family, social and cultural environment, relationships and life experiences. How these and other factors interact can often lead to us developing beliefs, attitudes and habitual patterns of thinking and behaving that can be unhelpful to us and cause distress. In therapy, I offer a safe, non-judgmental and compassionate space to work together to make sense of all this, and come to a better understanding of yourself, your world and your options, to help you to get your life back on track, feel more at ease with yourself, grow in confidence or improve your relationships.

My qualifications and experience include:

MA in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, University of Roehampton (BACP accredited course)

Registered Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator

Experience of working with adults, adolescents and children from a diverse range of backgrounds in both short term and long term work, in the NHS, in employee assistance programmes and in schools, both in the UK and internationally. I have worked with a wide variety of emotional health issues and life events that bring them to counselling, including depression, anxiety, troubled relationships, low self-confidence, stress, abuse, self-harm, parenting, caring, long term illness, addictions and living with addiction in the family.

Practice description

I offer face to face sessions in a quiet, comfortable room at a wellbeing centre in central Teddington.  I also offer walk and talk sessions in Bushy Park and the Thames tow path for adults, and online sessions using MS Teams.

As an integrative therapist, with a strong basis in person-centred therapy, my focus is on building a safe, trusting relationship within which you feel free to express yourself fully and explore your feelings and experiences. I bring in different ways of working based on other theories and approaches, depending on what feels appropriate and helpful to you as an individual and your particular needs and wishes.

My first session

The first session is for us to get to know each other and see if working with me feels right for you. We will discuss the issues that bring you to therapy, and what you would like to get out of therapy.

For work with children and teenagers, I will have an initial phone or video call with parents/carers to discuss their concerns, observations and relevant information before a first meeting with the young person.
