About me and my therapy practice
I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling from Goldsmiths College, University of London and I am an experienced counsellor.
Perhaps you're here because you're confused, down or frustrated. Or maybe something just doesn't feel right but you don't know what. Either way I would be happy to help. Contact me if you have concerns or worries, are feeling anxious, stressed or depressed.
I offer a safe, confidential space where we can work together to address your needs, explore your concerns and develop ways to make changes. Working with a counsellor can help you see things in a new perspective and a counsellor can support you during difficult times. I listen to clients without judging them. A counsellor can reflect an objective view that is not always possible with friends or family.
I believe that we have the ability to become more of who we are and that therapy and the therapeutic relationship can bring this about. One can look at issues in a calm and peaceful way. I see each client as an individual with their own unique life experiences. Wherever you are at this point in life my aim is not to tell you what to do but help you move forward - drawing on your own personal resources.
Practice description
I will work within a set of boundaries and listen carefully. We will explore your early environment and the genesis of any difficulties you may have. I will not tell you anything about myself. You can talk about anything you wish to and I will try to facilitate a process of change. Change will take place in the environment of the therapy. The aim is to make you more resilient.
My first session
At the beginning of the first session I will introduce myself.
The first session is an assessment and is different to usual sessions. I will take notes and ask for basic information.
You will get a chance to talk about what brought you to therapy and you will be given a copy of the Client Guidelines and Attendance Policy.
I will say what approach I will be using and what my qualifications and experience are. I will confirm that I am a Registered Member of BACP and that I adhere to their code of ethics and practice.
If there is anything you wish to discuss about privacy we will do so in the first session. I will state how your confidentiality will be protected and any reasonably foreseeable limitations of confidentiality.
We will agree a time/day for our meetings and talk about how much the sessions will cost. We will discuss the frequency of the sessions/the number of sessions and how the fees will be paid.
At the end of the initial appointment there may be time for you to explore anything you would like to and you will be able to ask me any questions you have.
