About me and my therapy practice

I am a Therapeutic Counsellor and EMDR Therapist. I work in an integrative way as a therapist by drawing upon different theoretical approaches when I work with clients, rather than working with just one approach. I will tailor what I offer to you, the client, depending on your needs and requirements.

EMDR is particularly useful to help clients who have experienced trauma, distressing memories or have PTSD.

As a therapist, I have extensive experience of working with a range of issues, and with clients from different backgrounds in voluntary settings, private practice and in schools. I currently work in my private practice in Selsdon, South Croydon and online, as well as being the Lead Counsellor in a secondary school in Croydon.

I am able offer you a safe space where you can talk things over (or process trauma memories) and work out what you want to do to move forward and hopefully feel more fulfilled in your life and/or in your relationship.

I also offer online counselling via instant messaging or video/audio call and online EMDR via video call. I am a member of The Association for Counselling and Therapy Online (ACTO) and adhere to their code of ethics for online counselling.

I am also a Clinical Supervisor, and I have a diploma in Clinical Supervision.

My first session

I usually ask a new client to have a no-obligation initial consultation either at my practice or online. At this meeting, we can discuss the type of therapy I offer (Counselling or EMDR), what you would like to get out of it and for us to meet, so that you can decide if you feel comfortable working with me. It will also help me in understanding what it is that you would like help with.

About me and my therapy practice

I offer supervision to trainees and qualified counsellors.

My model of supervision is influenced by the “Seven-eyed Model” (sometimes called the process model or the double matrix model). as I believe it is a useful way of looking at the supervision process. I have adapted my way of working from this. The model provides a useful ‘map’ to know where we are, at any time, within the supervisory relationship. Further, I have found this model particularly useful because it focuses on relational aspects between client, therapist, and supervisor whilst also integrating systemic ideas by focusing on the interplay between each relationship and their context within the wider system.

I also integrate into my model Protor’s ideas of supervision, which is task-based around being restorative (or supportive), normative (or managerial) and formative (or educative).

I believe that tasks (what needs to happen), emotions and ideas must all be given space to be explored in supervision. I do not see myself as the expert, but rather I aim for a collaborative process with my supervisee. My role as the supervisor is to provide a space in which the supervisee can be open to his or her experience so that it is possible to fully engage with the client.

I respect that there are many ways of working therapeutically with clients, and I am open to sharing, exploring and learning alongside you.

I have completed a Diploma in Clinical Supervision, and I supervise counsellors in private practice and as a Lead Counsellor in a secondary school on an individual or group basis.
