About me and my therapy practice
My clinical practice is humanistic and relational with an attachment focus. I work creatively and have additional training in working with children and young people, couples counselling, trauma and somatic trauma work.
Working as I often do with trauma, the concept of providing a safe co-created space where a supervisee can “divest, explore, learn and restore” (Rogers, 1951) whilst developing self-awareness and internal process seems paramount to the way I prefer to work .
Whilst I hold person centred values at the core of my supervision practice and stay congruent with the philosophy, I am able to draw on aspects of other models to support supervision. I value a collaborative approach to supervision that offers safe and constructive challenge and opportunities to explore both the work, and the therapist within that work.
I offer a hybrid supervision model ,humanistically and relationally grounded, using aspects of Hawkins and Shohets 7-eyed model and Inskipp and Proctors functional supervision model. This provides a simple relational focus that is based on a collaborative working alliance between supervisee and supervisor which I strive for and which sits alongside my belief in authenticity, respect and empathy in any working relationship. I recognise the value of a shared learning relationship. I firmly believe we can learn so much from what the other person brings to any situation and that only by creating a safe space can we truly benefit form this opportunity.
