About me and my therapy practice
I am passionate about supporting good mental health, and positive well-being, nurturing healthy relationships and facilitating personal growth. I understand the importance of working with each individual’s unique circumstance and experience.
I am an experienced counsellor, play therapist, life coach and hypnotherapist. I am qualified to Master’s level and I work with children, young people and adults. I have worked in general practice, schools, national and local charities as well as in private practice. I am a registered member of BACP and BAPT and work within their professional and ethical guidance.
My training supports a blended approach to therapy that is adapted to meet what is happening for you as an individual, couple or family unit. I have a particular expertise in working with parents who struggle to support the mental health and well-being of their children.
I offer face to face, telephone as well as online sessions
(Please note some restrictions may apply dependent on age of client).
Practice description
My therapy approach combines person centred, psychodynamic and systems theories.
These are important frameworks for helping us to understand how our past experiences can affect the present and what we can do to make change happen. Understanding our past and current relationships too, can help make us to sense of the challenges we face.
The challenges we experience can be extensive from low mood, depression, poor self worth, anxiety and panic attacks, relationship conflict, trauma, grief and loss and identity crisis, to name but a few.
Exploring these challenges in therapy creates opportunity for new insights to be discovered, new choices to be considered, new skills to be learnt and change to take place.
As well as talking therapy, I offer creative/play methods in my practice.
Using creative/play methods to represent thoughts, feelings and experiences can be highly beneficial for some individuals. Creativity and play can be particularly effective when working with a parent-child relationships.
My knowledge and skills as an NLP coach and hypnotherapist can be used for specific and targeted work.
Before we book our first session together it is helpful to have a conversation about your particular circumstance so I can offer you some choices about how we might work together. Making sure that you are working in the way that is right for you is essential to achieving your best outcome.
Fees:
Individual sessions £60
Couple/Filial sessions £80
Additional costs may be incurred e.g. travelling time is required.
Concessions may be available depending on circumstance; please contact directly to discuss.

About me and my therapy practice
I have worked as a supervisor for over 25 years. My original supervision training was facilitated by Robin Shohet.
I have a wealth of theory and practice to inform your supervisory experience. I originally trained as a nurse before completing my MA in Counselling Studies followed by my MA in Play Therapy. I have worked in health, education and third sector settings as well as in private practice. My practice is trauma informed and I understand the challenges faced when 'holding' clients with multiple needs.
I can support practitioners who work with children, young people and adults; those who work with individuals, couples, parent-child dyads and families.
I work with trainee and qualified counsellors, play and creative therapist as well as with school and health care staff. I supervise individuals and groups.
In addition to my work as a therapist, I have worked as a university lecturer and community trainer.
My approach to supervision is to provide a safe, learning experience where exploration, growth and autonomy are encouraged.
Practice description
My supervisory work is primarily influenced by psychodynamic, relational and person centred thinking. I'm committed to meeting each individual/group in a way that recognises and respects where practitioners are in their professional practice.
I draw on theories/research and my experience in multiple settings to help guide and support the supervisory relationship.
My first session
Our first supervision session is an opportunity to explore expectations, discuss our supervisory agreement and plan how we will work together. It is an opportunity for you to ask any questions and discuss any concerns you may have about supervision and how it will support you in your practice.
This session allows us to think about how our theoretical approaches, experience and skills can both support and challenge our work together.
