About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor as well as a qualified Supervisor. I can offer support encompassing a wide range of difficulties you might be having.
Counselling helps you to take a breather from your normal daily routine and set aside some time for you.
Currently, I run a College Counselling service, so I have an understanding of Young People and the issues they are facing. I work with people who are confused and are trying to make sense of the world as well as trying to find out where they fit in. Working through change and the transition into adulthood can feel overwhelming for some. Feeling anxious, lonely and misunderstood is common.
Being a trained Addictions Counsellor, and having delivered drug and alcohol Education, I can help people with harm minimisation or achieving abstinence. My extensive experience is with Both Adults and Young People.
My experience isn’t limited to Addiction and Young People, I have worked with many men and women who are dealing with life’s challenges and need support to deal with past issues as well as the here and now.
I have also worked as a volunteer for a Hospice and this has given me much insight into Grief and the impact this can have on individuals and families. A person's grief is unique to that person, so I would be mindful of this and walk with you at your own pace.
Practice description
Using various theoretical approaches, I can help you explore your past as well as the here and now. Self awareness is key to helping facilitate change. I realise that not everyone who wants Counselling feels the need for change or deep exploration but would like someone to listen and offer impartial, non-judgemental support, I can do that too.
If you are feeling Hopeless, I can hold it for you and you can have it back when you are ready.
Over the years, I have learnt to adapt my approach to suit a person's needs. I recognise that one approach doesn't suit all. As I am also a qualified Supervisor I can also offer online or telephone sessions for Counsellors and Trainees.
I am always amazed at the many hidden talents or capabilities that are uncovered and the realisation for someone that they have choices and a voice is very empowering for them. I am humbled by someone's story and value being part of the journey. My aim is to help you find or reclaim inner peace and become the person you desire to be, thereby finding your true identity and achieving personal goals.
My first session
I offer an initial 15 minute phone call to discuss your needs and I will aim to answer any questions you may have and hope to put you at ease. I will give you a brief outline of my professional background and we can decide the next step together.
