About me and my therapy practice
My approach is integrative. I have over 24 years experience in offering counselling and psychotherapy in private practice and have also worked for a number of organisations in the public and private sector.
Additionally I offer short courses in Mindfulness - a mind/body approach that helps us to relate differently to our experiences. The NHS recommend Mindfulness as a way of managing anxiety and stress, recurring depression and pain and I now offer individual meetings as well as short courses. 6 sessions is usually adequate to begin living mindfully.
Practice description
There are times when we all need help with the challenges of life.
In 2020 Covid entered into our daily existence and since then most of us have faced challenges of some kind or another. It is normal to feel anxious during extraordinary times and extraordinary times they were in the first couple of years.
Now in 2024 the landscape is significantly different, many have moved full-heartedly towards life enhancing experiences but others are struggling. For most the conversation and information around Covid has receded from our everyday existence although the research and data continue to be collected - there are many unknowns.
Aside from, and alongside Covid we all want to live as full a life as possible. So what about managing the unknown/uncertainties/doubts and anxieties? I can offer you a space to reflect and for us to think together with the hope that this will lead to better understanding, self-awareness and change.
We are all responsible for our own lives and I believe it is possible to move from feeling out of control, confused, anxious, depressed and driven to repeat unhelpful or even destructive patterns in our relationships to a place of making the choices that are good for us in our lives.
My approach is integrative in terms of modalities and mind/body. I have over 24 years experience in offering counselling and psychotherapy in private practice and have also worked for a number of organisations, universities and charities.
I offer short courses in Mindfulness.
The NHS recommend Mindfulness as a way of managing anxiety, stress, recurring depression and pain. Anecdotally those practising often say they notice relationships improve and they are able to enjoy life, get more done and even sleep better.
I also offer talking therapy outdoors, following assessment and consultation. Walking and talking.
Initial consultations are usually available face to face, after which it is possible where necessary to work on the phone, on-line and outdoors where appropriate.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for you to experience the way I work and for me to get a better understanding of the main issues leading to you considering therapy.
Usually, by the end of an initial consultation we will have a clearer idea what the best next steps might be for you.
