About me and my therapy practice
I am a BACP Accredited Psychodynamic Counsellor and UKCP Registered Psychotherapist, with 20+ years' experience working with adults and young people in diverse settings. These include private practice, NHS Adult Mental Health services, sixth form college and university counselling, employee assistance and staff counselling. My experience also includes teaching counselling students, supervising therapists and working with groups.
Psychodynamic therapy is an exploratory approach. This means taking time to explore and reflect on your feelings and past experiences, to help make sense of the present. We all carry within us an internal landscape made up of people, places and experiences, which help shape who we are and how we relate to others. Sometimes, what we learn from the past can free us from feelings and expectations in the present, which may no longer be true for us and which we no longer need.
In therapy we may explore;
• the influence of past experiences on our present lives
• the power of unconscious processes
• the recurrence or repetition of patterns in relationships
• defences or the strategies we use to try to survive
• the connection between mind, body and place
My Qualifications:
Diploma in Psychodynamic Supervision, Guild of Psychotherapists 2015
Diploma in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, NWIDP, 2009
Advanced Certificate in Psychodynamic Practice, NWIDP, 2006
Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling, Manchester University, 2001

About me and my therapy practice
During 2024 I launched my Psychodynamic in Nature, outdoor therapy practice. This is a form of psychodynamic psychotherapy or counselling, taking place in an outdoor setting (also known as Eco-psychotherapy or Nature-Allied therapy).
Practice description
Psychodynamic psychotherapy or counselling is an exploratory therapy. This means taking time in therapy to explore and reflect on your feelings and past experiences, to help make sense of the present.
We all carry within us an internal landscape made up of people, places and experiences, which help shape who we are and how we relate to others.
Psychodynamic in Nature, outdoor therapy offers a way of exploring this interior world outdoors in nature, allowing the external landscape to reflect and illuminate our past and present relationships with self, other and place.
