About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome to my profile. Thank you for considering me as a source of your support. I am aware that life can be challenging at times and I do understand that there are times when we become unable to see a way through our challenges. During the current circumstances you might feel stuck but, cheerer up, I am right here for you. All you need is to choose your most comfortable safe space for us to connect remotely or I can arrange to connect face to face when appropriate.I am a qualified and accredited counsellor, trained in the Relational Approach, drawing primarily from humanistic and psychodynamic theoretical approaches. I strongly believe that counselling therapy can help with whatever issues and problems you are currently struggling with. My aim as your therapist is to help and support you to reconnect with your true-self. As an integrative relational therapist, I believe that it is the relationship between the client and the therapist, which is the key to growth and healing. Together we will use the sessions at your pace to work through your issues in a safe and supportive environment. I will use a range of therapeutic techniques to ensure that your sessions are tailored to your needs.
Practice description
Different people seek counselling for different reasons. You may be feeling traumatised, lonely and distressed about your past, thoughts, feelings, relationships and behaviour. You may have experienced a difficult childhood, a life-changing events such as bereavement, other relationship loss, employment loss or any other events which might have left your life compromised and feeling stuck. It might be relationship issues with families or friends which might be distressful and overwhelming resulting in you making unhealth decisions and going in circles with no hope for the future. Our work together is datamined by your needs and that can be open ended or time limited, whilst I offer you a safe, supportive, calm and non-judgemental space where you can feel truly understood. I believe that it is the relationship between the client and the therapist, which is the key to growth and positive change. I bring an attachment focus to all my work and believe our early relationships influence our relationships with self and others throughout our life.
My first session
The first session is mainly for the contracting, setting of time boundaries and the issues of confidentiality and to assess any risk. I appreciate, and empathise with, how difficult it can be to engage in counselling for the first time or with a new counsellor. I will help the client to identify the issues and concerns they may be experiencing and. I will also use the session to work collaboratively with a client in identifying and choosing their goals for what they might want to work on and to share their hopes for how counselling might help you. I will explain to the client, the support I can offer them allowing them to make a decision as to whether I might be the best Counsellor for them.
