About me and my therapy practice
My therapeutic approach is to start by building a safe, trusting and accepting relationship with you. I offer a warm and non-judgmental space allowing you to share whatever is troubling you. I believe everyone has the ability and potential to be in happy, healthy and rewarding relationships. However, sometimes this may feel difficult and feelings of anxiety, depression, anger, low self-esteem or a disconnection from others may cause you to feel stuck in unhelpful patterns or beliefs about yourself.
We will start by discussing what you want from therapy. Together, in a safe environment, we will explore and uncover how some conscious as well as unconscious beliefs and patterns are active and affecting you today. Through exploration, discussion and understanding of your past, cultural beliefs and upbringing and through examining your present, you can gain greater self-awareness about how you have arrived at where you are today.
Therapy will help you to identify your strengths and empower you to find new and different ways forward. It can lead to a more fulfilling life involving personal growth and change. I will support you to find alternative ways to resolve any problems that you are facing. Whatever your route to therapy, we can work collaboratively to resolve these issues and bring about a new, happier and more fulfilled you.
As a professionally accredited and experienced Integrative-relational psychotherapist, my approach is to draw on a range of different theories to support the way I work.
In addition to running my private practice, I work in a school offering supervision and support to parents and staff. Previously, I worked in a Counselling Centre for women offering long term therapy and in an NHS GP practice. I offer both short-term and longer-term therapy and have experience in dealing with a wide range of issues.
