About me and my therapy practice
I am a trauma informed psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience working with children, young people, and adults who have experienced childhood or developmental trauma. I work with parents and carers, looking after children who have experienced trauma. Sometimes it can be really difficult parenting a traumatised child, and I create safe space for parents and carers to talk explore these issues. I provide a safe space for children, teenagers and adults who have experienced abuse and fear in childhood.
Our experiences shape how we perceive the world, understand ourselves, manage our emotions, and interact with others. I work alongside people to help them make sense of these complexities and navigate their journeys towards healing and growth.
Practice description
As a trauma-informed psychotherapist, I have extensive experience working with children and families who have faced significant challenges, having worked for the NSPCC, independent fostering agencies, and the NHS. Caring for a traumatized child can be incredibly difficult, and finding a safe space to think, talk, and reflect can be even harder. I provide this safe emotional space. My work is grounded in the relationship we create together. The foundation of my practice includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic interventions, and attachment-focused relational therapy. I also work with individuals who are neurodiverse and those with learning difficulties.
I work with people who are experiencing frightening, uncomfortable thoughts and feelings, people who don’t feel OK. From anxiety and depression to complex trauma, I work with a range of different issues and people.
We feel safer when we feel connected to others, when we are understood and when our feelings are acknowledged. My work focuses on creating this sense of safety, working collaboratively, exploring who you are, identifying and making sense of feelings, enabling you to regulate your feelings so they don’t become overwhelming.
Our journey is a collaborative one, and we decide together on the pace of the work, whether it’s short, medium, or long term, based on your needs.
