About me and my therapy practice
Hello, there are many reasons why you might be looking for a counsellor and taking the first step can feel frightening and overwhelming. Perhaps I can help? I am a qualified integrative counsellor who offers a warm, open hearted space for clients to explore themselves, their concerns and difficulties. I draw on a variety of theoretical models and interventions to suit my clients.
I have a particular interest in relationship difficulties, whether this is with parents, children, friends, work colleague or partners. I believe relationships are core to our existence and when we experience difficulty in maintaining these it can affect our lives significantly. Seeing a counsellor can help to shed light on emotional reactions and patterns of behaviour that may be contributing to difficulties within your relationship. I offer individual or couple counselling to explore the relational challenges you are facing.
I continue to acquire new knowledge and skills by attending training courses and workshops including Working with Relational Trauma, Child Sexual Abuse and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Programme. I also continue to work on my own self development both individually with a therapist and attend regular personal development courses as it is important to me that I maintain my own emotional health and professionalism.
Practice description
Sometimes it is difficult to fathom out how to be with situations or aspects of ourselves which challenge us and leave us feeling conflicted, anxious or unhappy in ourselves. Seeing a counsellor gives you a time to explore all aspects of yourself in a safe, caring and non judgmental space. We will work together to gain fresh insight into the problems and emotional responses that impact on your daily life. This will allow the possibility of greater inner peace and help towards moving forward with the situations that are troubling you.
My philosophy for working with people is for both of us to try to discover more helpful compassionate ways of relating to yourself and others and being in the world.
Counselling is a shared experience and I believe that the counselling relationship is at the heart of the therapy, and is key to opening up the possibility for healing wounds, gaining insight and developing as a human being with all our vulnerabilities. I am aware that it takes time and courage to build up trust in someone with whom you can let into the depth of your being.
