About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to my page, I am an experienced counsellor/supervisor who over the years has worked with adults, children and young people. I work in schools/children's services and combine room based sessions with equine assisted therapy if desired.
I describe myself as an integrative counsellor combining a range of therapies, the person centred approach at my core, CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) and animal assisted therapies with a herd of ponies, Roxy the chocolate lab and Doris the cat.
CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) is wonderful at helping clients of all ages work through issues such as anxiety, eating disorders, ocd's and anger.
We look at your needs and then together looking at how I can best support you or your child, families or groups, either indoors traditional talk therapy, outdoors with the herd or integrating different approaches.
I am a certified practitioner, offering eagala.org (Equine Assisted Growth & Learning Association) sessions. The eagala model is a team approach and is very popular with groups of all ages.
Practice description
I describe myself as an integrative counsellor combining a range of therapies including CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) including mindfulness/experiential and solution focused brief therapy .
I work in a very individual way with both adults and young people and as a counsellor I offer you my many years of experience/knowledge honesty and respect while we explore issues you feel you would like to bring to the counselling.
One fit does not fit all and so we work together looking at how I can best support you or your child, families or groups, either indoors traditional talk therapy, or outdoors with the herd.
I am a certified practitioner, offering eagala.org (Equine Assisted Growth & Learning Association) sessions. The eagala model is a team approach.
The focus is on and learning specific skills as defined by the individual , family or group, such as improved emotional interactions for autistic young people, communications for families or achieving a personal goal for an individual,
Equine assisted therapy is a powerful and effective therapeutic approach that addresses a variety of mental health conditions, including anxiety , depression, relationship problems, communication needs and behavioural issues (anger management) and grief recovery.
My first session
You will normally attend one counselling session per week on a day and time that is convenient to you. Its important to wear suitable foot wear and dress for the weather if combining equine assisted counselling with room based.
These sessions will last up to an hour and reviews will take place every six weeks. At each review, i will discuss progress and evaluate and identify the need for further counselling this could be outdoors with the ponies or combined CBT for example followed up with half a session with the ponies.
These combined equine counselling sessions work well for children and young people who's attention span for room based sessions can be a challenge.
If you cannot attend arranged sessions, I would ask that you leave a message on 07870639770. I will then contact you to re-arrange a session.
Missed appointments will be charged for, please notify me at least a day in advance of non attendance.

About me and my therapy practice
I am a BACP -accredited counsellor/supervisor with many years of experience. I describe my approach as integrative, though the person-centred approach is the core of my practice.
Using the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists’ ethical framework to provide the basis of your clinical supervision and continued professional developmental needs. I work collegiality and collaboratively with the intention, together, providing best practice for our clients.
I’ve trained with Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA). I attend regular EAGALA networking and support groups. I’m trained in various other models such as CBT, am an accredited bereavement counsellor and a background working in schools and organisations, residential children’s homes working with young children through to adolescents/young adults.
As a result, I have a breadth of knowledge to guide supervisees from years of experience in the school environment, working with social services and residential children’s homes. And an array of organisations.
I can offer Supervision to practicing professionals or students training to work within organisations or developing their own private practice, or a combination of Equine Assisted Therapy, Animal Assisted interventions,
Together we can explore themes, various models of therapy and strategies to meet our clients’ requirements. Flexibly working with interventions to meet our client’s needs.
CPD is an integral part of supervision not only to meet registration requirements but to enhance and maintain up to date knowledge and develop your practice.
The supervision model at my foundation is called The seven eyed model. I would describe it as collaborative, reflective, expressive, restorative and inquisitive.
Practice description
I am based in North Shropshire and situated on the edge of a beautiful golf course, our sessions can be on-line, room based or out doors. They are also not set in stone and we can do a combination to suit your needs.
Sessions are usually monthly 1.5hrs as required by the BACP, for qualified counsellors or those in training its usually fortnightly or you may have a placement supervisor and i am happy to combine these sessions to make up the hours you need to support you through your training.
I have the privilege of helping many trainee counsellors take their first steps into this world and am happy to say continue to support many as their careers continue and they find the direction and passion in their counselling journey.
My first session
Before a commitment from us both, i feel its important for you to read through the Supervision contract . I will email this over, we then will have an initial meeting either on-line or room based or field, to see if we feel we are both a good fit.
From there if we both decide we are a good fit we will put dates in the diary. I tend to like to offer the same day and possible time, however we do need to both be flexible as life always puts spanners in the works.
