About me and my therapy practice
Please be aware that I am currently only offering online sessions at present via Zoom. Hi. My name is Stephen. I am an integrative person-centered therapist with 10 years experience both within private practice settings and within both university and high school environments. I specialise in a range of approaches and am competent with all age ranges. Often the personal, social and economic pressures we endure can sometimes become overwhelming and distressing. I offer a safe and supportive space for you to explore all of these worries and concerns. To support you in understanding yourself more fully, building resilience and confidence in tackling your day to day experiences, past trauma's and helping you pursue future growth and contentment. I now offer online person-centered & humanistic integrative counselling sessions. All the information you need about me is on my website. The first session is an introduction session to see if working with me is something you would like to continue. We will cover confidentiality, privacy, data protection and any other questions you have about therapy or how I work. There is no obligation to continue counselling after this session or any other session. You decide how long you feel you need therapy for. If you decide you would like to work with me therapeutically you can contact me at. Sessions are usually £50 depending on your current circumstances. Many thanks for reading.
Practice description
When I first started out as a therapist I moved straight into private practice following qualification. I am a naturally person-centered therapist meaning that I embody the core values of the approach. Those of empathy, unconditional positive regard (respect & warmth) and congruence (honesty). In the time since I have continued to hold these values close whilst further developing my approach to include a wide range and integration of approaches learned through training, experience and responding to what the client needs. This includes person centered existential approaches, eastern philosophies around balance and self-acceptance and Trauma related care and response (e.g. EMDR therapy). A large part of my work over those years has included working with young persons aged 10-26.
My first session
our first introduction session is essentially a chance to meet me and decide whether you feel working with me is something you would like to continue. The first session is really about finding out a bit about you and what you feel you need from therapy. Its also a chance to ask any questions you may have about me or my practice or indeed therapy in general. One of the greatest predictors of positive change in therapy is your relationship to the therapist. Whilst this relationship can take time to develop one can often recognise within one or two sessions that you have the right fit for you. I am confident that with me you will find that I am caring, respectful, honest, passionate and hardworking with a good sense of humor (therapy doesn't all have to be all struggle and strife, its also important to laugh and celebrate ourselves and the absurdity of the world in which we exist). If you feel its not working and I'm not the right therapist for you I will happily help point you in the right direction towards other peers and colleagues that may better fit your needs.
Types of therapy
EMDR, Existential, Humanistic, Integrative, Interpersonal, Person centred, Phenomenological, Play therapy, Relational, Transpersonal
Clients I work with
Adults, Children, EAP, Older adults, Trainees, Young people
How I deliver therapy
Long term sessions, Online therapy, Short term sessions, Telephone therapy
Features
- Flexible hours available
- Concessionary rates
