About me and my therapy practice
Perhaps you are looking for meaning or want help with a particular issue or with managing past traumas. You might be troubled by overwhelming feelings that seem to arise from nowhere. Talking things through with a therapist can alleviate distress and restore a sense of connection. I hope to be able to help through working together at a pace you are happy with in a safe, accepting environment. I have over 20 years experience at counselling individuals and couples and young people and adolescents from my therapy room in Hornsey. I originally trained with Relate and work from an integrative perspective either short or long term.
Practice description
As a counsellor I work with individuals and couples, children and young people and have had a wide range of clients who have shared their stories with me and who have found support and benefit from the process of therapy.
I began my professional experience as a counsellor with Relate with individuals and couples with relationship difficulties and recognise how important it is to have healthy boundaries in relationships and how hard it can be at times. I also have particular experience and training in working with children, adolescents and young people in primary and secondary schools and in private practice. I recently worked in a girl's state secondary school providing one-to-one therapy and counselling for students and also ran a therapeutic project in a number of primary schools with the charity Place2Be.
My particular experience is providing therapy for children and young people who are experiencing a range of issues including anxiety, self-harm and questions of identity. I can provide child therapy that is play based and can also work with parents at alleviating distress in the whole family setting. I welcome clients of all ages, backgrounds, cultures, sexuality and gender identity and provide counselling in a safe and confidential space where everyone can feel accepted and able to be heard and respected.
My first session
We would meet together for an initial consultation and then agree a number of sessions we would start with. Counselling normally takes place at the same time every week and sessions last 50 minutes. There is no ideal duration to the work. We can have a few sessions or work together at a slower pace. When working with children I would meet with parents or carers initially before starting and if appropriate session times might be slightly shorter with a reduction in cost. The first step is to give me a ring on 07947 021039 and we can talk about what you are looking for and book a time to meet.
