About me and my therapy practice
As you and I know, the path of life doesn’t always run smoothly. Maybe you are struggling with a difficult situation or life event right now. You might be feeling down, overwhelmed, stressed, confused, anxious and unable to cope. Perhaps you feel lost or stuck and unsure how to move forward. Feeling this way can have a knock-on effect on other areas of your life including your work, relationships, physical health and your ability to enjoy life.
How would it be to feel calmer, more robust and able cope with life’s challenges? Imagine feeling your life has balance, meaning and fulfilment. I specialise in supporting adults who are affected by life events and transitions such as the beginning or end of a relationship, the loss of someone close to you, living with a chronic or life limiting illness, family difficulties, the menopause and retirement.
As someone who has experienced a number of challenging life events myself, I have benefitted from counselling to help me through and witnessed the transformative effect of therapy, which is what led me to a career making a difference to other people’s lives. Previous clients have described me as warm, caring and kind.
I’m a BACP accredited counsellor with ten years experience supporting people through difficult times to reach a better, happier place. I’m a mum, grandma and dog lover and as I’m approaching sixty, I’ve definitely gained wisdom through life experience!
Practice description
My theoretical knowledge and experience as a therapist have taught me that in the right conditions, change and growth is possible. Just as a plant needs water, light and good soil to grow and thrive; it’s the same with us. I specialise in providing these conditions in the form of a warm, supportive relationship, rich in empathy and acceptance.
I believe that relationships are often at the heart of what people can struggle with – both in the present and from the past – and that the client/counsellor relationship is key to growth and change. I work hard to create an environment that creates both trust and understanding.
Through our working relationship, you will make sense of where you are and why - and in addition gain clarity about where you want to be. You will gradually learn and adopt coping strategies, develop greater self-awareness and discover insights and solutions that will steer you in the direction that feels right for you. And I will be alongside you throughout the process.
My first session
I suggest that you come in for an initial meeting to begin with, so that you can tell me what you want from counselling and I can assess if I feel I am the right therapist for you. I charge the normal sessional fee (£55) for the initial meeting.
