About me and my therapy practice

Hi there, my name is Racheal and I am a fully qualified BACP Accredited Counsellor with over 10 years’ experience, providing Counselling to patients within the NHS. In addition to this, I have worked within an NHS Staff Support Service, providing therapeutic interventions to NHS employees experiencing work related stress, burn out, disciplinary proceedings and physical health diagnosis.

Life can be complicated and with our busy modern lives and endless lists of responsibilities, it can be a struggle to find the time, space or even the energy to deal with any personal problems which may arise.

Space for change Counselling offers you the opportunity to sit, reflect and discuss the things that are bothering you and want to change, within a relaxed, non-judgemental and confidential environment. Identifying the barriers which are preventing you from living the life you want.

If you are struggling with some issues that you just can’t work out, then counselling could be for you. If you want to identify your blocks to change and reach your full potential, you can start your journey towards living the life you aspire to, focussing on your values and beliefs.

I believe that the power for change lies within the individual and sometimes we just need the right conditions, including space and time, to make it happen.

You won’t be given advice or told ‘what to do’ but you will be encouraged to make any positive changes which may benefit your well-being.

Whatever your goals for therapy, the process will increase your sense of self-awareness which may include getting to know your ‘triggers’ or ‘soft spots’ and how to deal with these situations in a healthier and more satisfactory way. With greater self-awareness, comes choice and with choice comes control. My aim is to help you become more ‘in-control’ of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, instead of feeling that they are in control of you.

Practice description

I utilise the collaborative nature of the counselling relationship so we can work together to find the right solutions for you as I believe we are all different and what works for one, may not work for some-one else. Part of the therapeutic process may include finding out ‘what works’ for you and by doing so, can help to alleviate your mental health struggles, setting you free, to live a fulfilling life.

We may identify useful strategies and techniques to manage your well-being, anxiety, depression, sleep etc. if this is appropriate, however for some people, just being able to talk to some-one impartial about their difficulties can be beneficial within itself, giving you the space and freedom to develop that greater understanding of yourself and your current issues, in order to move forward.

My therapeutic approach is Integrative. My core modalities include, humanistic, person-centred, solution focussed, cognitive behavioural and interpersonal. These are all proven and researched interventions in treating common mental health diagnosis such as depression and anxiety.

Common issues I have worked with include, depression, anxiety, low mood, work related stress, going through work related disciplinary process’s, relationship difficulties, difficult family dynamics, low self-esteem, low confidence, poor sleep, loss of meaning or purpose and unexplained feelings of sadness. Existential issues, ageing and dying, grief and bereavement. Identity issues, past abuse and childhood issues.

This is just a sample of the most common themes people present with but I appreciate everyone is different and sometimes there may be a combination of these factors impacting on you.

If you would like to discuss how Counselling could work for you, please contact me via email, text or phone call. We can then arrange an initial telephone consultation to assess your needs and book in for future sessions.
