About me and my therapy practice
My name is Carol and I work on and offline.
- Counselling is provided online (via Zoom), telephone and in person
- In person appointments are from rooms in Christchurch, Dorset.
- Online appointments are for adults living anywhere in the UK.
I have particular experience helping clients struggling with anxiety, stress, depression, bereavement, grief and loss.
Sometimes life can be difficult - whether you are dealing with the loss of a loved one, managing anxiety, feeling a sense of overwhelm that makes life a struggle or just a sense that something is 'off' and you need to explore more - counselling can help to support you through these times.
I offer a friendly and flexible approach, integrating different approaches to provide the support you need. Sometimes talking things over and being heard and understood is enough, and at other times some tools and techniques can be useful to help manage in the longer term.
For those who like writing or keeping journals - I also offer creative writing techniques to help process and explore your experiences and sense of self.
I believe that counselling is very much a collaborative process between us. Please do get in touch if you would like to arrange an initial chat.
Practice description
I consider myself to be an integrative therapist - which means that I have a range of different approaches that I am able to adapt to suit each individual. Integrative therapy is very much a collaborative process so that we work together in the way that suits you best.
My core training is in Person Centred and Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) therapy. Additional training over the years has enabled me to draw on many other techniques to help broaden my practice and better support clients.
I offer a flexible approach to appointments to suit your circumstances. Some people like to have the same time each week whilst others need more flexibility to fit around family/work situations. You are not tied to a set number of sessions and I offer short and long term support.
During the pandemic I did additional training to safely deliver online therapy. I am a member of ACTO (Association for Counselling Online).
I have also trained in Creative writing for Therapeutic practice (CWTP)- which utilises different writing prompts to help explore and aid wellbeing.
Alongside individual therapy, I offer email therapy and group therapy and writing for wellbeing workshops.
My first session
I offer a free telephone call or short 15min Zoom meeting to discuss your needs before you need to make a decision about working together. Please contact me and we can arrange a suitable time for a short chat.
Once agreed, there will be some paperwork/contract to sign and then we will agree a time for our first session. The first full session will include an assessment - which enables me to find out more about you and ask a few background questions to help us in our work together.
