About me and my therapy practice
I am a highly experienced empathic Integrative Psychotherapist (MEd, MSc), with over 25 years of post qualification experience, specialising in treating trauma related difficulties. I also have an additional specialist training in EMDR Trauma Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing). My practice is firmly imbedded in neuroscience research.
I have a particular interest in incorporating ecotherapy approach in my work, maximising the healing impact of nature based interventions and practices. Furthermore, alongside talking therapy I utilise creative arts therapies including sandtray work in my integrative practice.
As an integrative psychotherapist, my approach is holistic, taking into account the whole spectrum of your mental, physical, emotional and spiritual needs. I use a wide range of therapeutic tools and modality approaches to suit your specific requirements and goals. It is my aim to facilitate your process of growth and healing and help you achieve your specific goals as well as overall improvements in your wellbeing and functioning.
I am also a dedicated experienced Supervisor with over 15 years experience of providing clinical and consultative supervision to other therapists and allied professions.
MBACP Accredited Counsellor / Psychotherapist since June 2004 (No 545347)
UKCP Registered Psychotherapist since 2007 (No 07159167)
EMDR UK Registered Therapist since June 2021 (No H0617)
Practice description
I provide face to face individual and group therapy in my Garden Consulting Room and Sensory Garden. I also provide outdoor Ecotherapy sessions in Crown Lakes - a local country park.
Alongside my face to face work I also provide remote sessions by Zoom Video or Phone.
My first session
After our first contact via this directory I can offer you An Introductory Call - a free 15 minute phone / video consultation.
If we decide to progress further, an Initial Assessment Consultation will be scheduled at my consultation room or by zoom / phone. This is a full 50 minute consultation payable at my normal rate. During this appointment we will identify key areas of your difficulty and any relevant context/background issues. We will also identify your current resources and any risk issues. The purpose of this session is to scope the problem, identify therapy goals and plan of action. It will also be your opportunity to get more of a feel of how I work and whether I am the best fit for you.
If we decide to embark on our therapy journey together, we will outline a mutually agreed contract inclusive of goals, form and length of treatment and review dates. We will review this process regularly.
