About me and my therapy practice

Hello and Welcome.

I specialise in supporting individuals with anxiety, depression, trauma, perinatal and health-related challenges. I also work with issues such as low self confidence,  stress-related symptoms, life transitions, work ,relationship or family concerns, loneliness, loss and general emotional distress. I offer one-to-one counselling and psychotherapy on an open-ended basis ( long or short term)

I have over ten years of experience, having worked  across the  NHS, private, and third-sector services, supporting clients with a wide range of concerns.

My approach helps you explore and make sense of emotional pain, often rooted in early life—to gain insight, heal, and feel more empowered in the present.

I have particular experience with clients who struggle to form or sustain intimate relationships and those facing fertility /reproductive challenges. I also hold a strong interest in identity, belonging, and race. I work inclusively and sensitively with people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds.  My clients describe me as warm, kind, and approachable

I understand how important it is to find the right therapist, so I offer an informal, no-pressure chat to discuss your needs and answer any questions.

Clinical Qualifications

I received and hold an MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy from Birkbeck College, University of London,  one of the leading academic and clinical college institutions for psychotherapy in the UK.

I also hold and have received an BSc (Hons) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the School of Psychology at the University of East London.

Both Programs of study are accredited by the BACP and the BPC.

Practice description

The term psychodynamic is derived from two Ancient Greek words: psyche, meaning "soul," and dynamis, meaning "power" or "potential." At its core, the psychodynamic approach is concerned with understanding how past experiences, particularly early relationships and significant life events—shape our present behaviour, emotional life, and ways of relating to others.

Psychodynamic psychotherapy involves exploring the influence of these past experiences, often those outside of conscious awareness, to gain deeper insight into current difficulties. The therapeutic process focuses on uncovering unconscious patterns and dynamics that may be impacting your emotional well-being, relationships, and life choices.

Central to this approach is the idea that much of our communication and emotional experience occurs at both a conscious and unconscious level. Psychoanalysis has developed a rich, nuanced language to describe these unconscious processes and the complex emotional exchanges that occur between people. In therapy, attention to these subtle dynamics allows for a deeper understanding of the self and opens up the possibility for meaningful and lasting change. You are invited to speak freely and reflect on your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. The process can help bring to light emotions that may have been pushed out of conscious awareness.

Together, we explore patterns—both conscious and unconscious—that may be contributing to your distress or affecting your relationships. This shared process helps us understand the roots of your difficulties and consider new ways of responding. The goal is to help you feel more equipped to navigate life’s challenges and support lasting, meaningful change.

At its core, psychotherapy is a space to reflect on how you think, feel, and relate—to yourself and to others. It fosters deeper self-awareness and emotional resilience, recognising that the capacity for change already exists within you.

My first session

The initial consultation is a chance for you and I to get to know each other better. In this session I am interested in learning about you, your lived experience, what has brought you to therapy and what you would possibly like to achieve. I would also like to know a little about your history (your past and present circumstances). The first session is sixty minutes in duration and is treated as an initial consultation.

At this meeting, I will tell you about the way I work and for us to think about whether we would like to work together, we may together also decide on a regular day and time to meet each week.  Most client's find that regular sessions provide a sense of stability and continuity whilst working through difficulties.
