About me and my therapy practice

I am a BACP accredited counsellor and have been practising for around 10 years. I have spent much of that time working in a primary care setting (short-term NHS counselling) and have also worked in universities and the charity sector. I have supported clients with a range of issues, such as depression, anxiety, bereavement, relationships, self-esteem, abuse, working through transitional life experiences, and many others. I also have experience of supporting people who have been affected by domestic violence and sexual violence.

I am trained as a person-centred counsellor but work integratively, using tools and techniques from other therapeutic models when they may be helpful. I work hard to challenge my own biases and enjoy working with clients from a multitude of backgrounds and experiences. I welcome clients of any sexuality, gender, race, ability, religion, or age. I value the health at every size (HAES) approach and can work with people who wish to explore their experiences away from the lens of diet culture.

Practice description

Counselling offers a non-judgemental space where you can gain a deeper understanding of the problems you are facing. You may know what you want to work on, or you may need some time to make more sense of what is making you feel this way. Counselling allows you the opportunity to process, reflect, and understand the impact of your experiences, in a confidential space, where you are listened to with compassion and respect. As you gain a deeper understanding of what you are feeling and experiencing you can start to think about any changes you would like to make and how you would like to move forward in your life.

I provide telephone counselling and face to face counselling. I use a room at Urban Angel Therapies in Gosforth. There is a space at 19 Lansdowne Terrace, NE3 1HP, and, from June, there will be a space in Brunton Park, NE3 5TT, please contact me if you would like more details about the venue.

You are welcome to contact me by phone, text message, whatsapp or email. I may not be able to respond straight away but I will aim to get back to you within 24 hours.

My first session

It is important that you feel that your counsellor is someone who you can build a good relationship with, and this can be hard to determine from an online profile. I offer a free, no obligation, 15-minute call to allow you to ask any questions about the way I work and to get a sense about whether I am the right counsellor for you.

In our first counselling session we will focus on understanding what you want to get out of your counselling sessions.
