About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced Counsellor and also trained in couples counselling, with a private practice in a peaceful setting just six miles between Derby and Ashbourne and close to the University of Derby. In terms of personal style I am determined, professional and work with humanity, humour and warmth.
Stressful life events often give rise to feelings of anxiousness and helplessness and can be a fertile place for our fears to escalate. I can help you to gain awareness, clarity and confidence as well as deepen your understanding of yourself and your relationship with others.
Our relationships can be wonderful, but also one of the most stressful and challenging areas of life. A partner can change from being our most trusted and cherished soul mate, to the cause of our deepest distress and anguish. I work with you as a couple to help you gain a better understanding and awareness of yourselves and each other and help you to manage conflict more effectively.
We all worry from time to time, but for some worry is constantly on our mind and often not linked to a specific situation or event. It can cause you problems sleeping, affect how you manage your job as well as impact on close relationships. We can better understand this condition and find techniques to help manage it better.
I am interested in the whole person and work beyond the current problem to help realise long-term change.
I anchor my practice in Humanistic Theory, but also draw on my integrative training as is most appropriate and beneficial to the individual client. I am also interested in the spiritual dimension of psychotherapy and the search for meaning, tolerance and inclusion. I know this means something different to everyone, but I believe there is something greater than the concrete world we see. I am committed to helping you to improve the quality of your life, expand your understanding and therefore increase your choices.
Practice description
I work from my home which is serene, peaceful and private.
My counselling room is located away from the rest of the house and is a place where you can share your innermost thoughts and feelings in a safe and confidential way.

In your first session I make an initial assessment which means there is some paperwork to complete, some initial questions and an agreement about the way we will work together.
